Responsible for Mechanical Engineering activities in product sustaining for Allegion Mechanical and Electro-mechanical Lock Products. Performs design, development and technical analysis of moderate scope and complexity, either independently or as part of a project team.
Responsibilities include technical representation within cross-functional teams; leading design reviews and supplier reviews; developing technical documentation; product change management.
Generate, evaluate, analyze, and develop design concepts for systems, components and assemblies to achieve new product requirements and current product improvements. Represents technical inputs for product development teams. Plans, releases, and coordinates implementation of product releases and engineering change notices. Responsible for determining and improving overall quality and cost of product. Must be able to provide insight and sound advice about the product.
Develop and contribute to detailed specifications, program plans, and work breakdown structure, milestones, major reviews, schedule, cost, etc. Complete the programs on schedule, within budget, and meeting all technical specifications, and customer requirements. Primary technical contributions within sustaining and small product development programs.
What You Will Do:
Reads and interprets blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.Works with cross-functional teams to find the root cause of system malfunctions and provide technical solutions.Researches and analyzes customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications.Specifies system components or directs modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications by demonstrating the robustness of design changes via calculation and analysis (GD&T, stack-ups) and reliability tests.Support to sourcing, production, manufacturing, and quality department where required.Utilize contemporary techniques like Computer Aided Design, Six Sigma, Kaizen, Reliability Analysis, etc.Conforms to metrics appropriate to the performance of the Engineering in their area.Maintain awareness of all Engineering policies, guidelines, and procedures, and comply with them.Responsible for maintaining integrity of our engineering systems.Maintains awareness of industry's standards and best practices.What You Will Need to Succeed:
Required disciplines include CAD (Creo preferred), Document Control (Windchill preferred), Risk Analysis and Management2 plus years of experience preferredTravel expectancy 5%-10%Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electromechanical Engineering or a related field with equivalent experienceAdditional preferred disciplines include GD&T, D/PFMEA, 8D, FRACAS, and Microsoft ProjectDemonstrated ability for mechanical component and system designUnderstanding of manufacturing processes such as die casting, injection molding, stamping, and machiningUnderstanding of the engineering financial impact and a basic understanding of the needs and impact of other functions on the businessEnglish Level for fluent Communication (Verbal & Written)Demonstrated interpersonal & written communication skillsDesired Characteristics:
