Behind the scenes, this work involves a sophisticated blend of technologies—ranging from heat transfer and advanced material systems to manufacturability considerations. The primary focus is on a 1.6T product, but the role also extends into cutting-edge photonic packaging. This includes working with extremely compact devices that are integrated into larger modules for specialized applications. The designs are high-density—think of them like intricate wedding cakes, with multiple stacked layers for connectivity. Components are layered vertically, with optical fibers emerging from the top. It’s a highly versatile role that demands precision, creativity, and a deep understanding of both mechanical and photonic integration.
ResponsibilitiesDevelop and design advanced mechanical systems for high-capacity optical transceivers.Work on photonic packaging and integration of compact devices into larger modules.Collaborate on the development of high-density designs with multiple stacked layers.Ensure precision engineering in optical fiber integration and connectivity.Focus on delivering 1.6T optical transceiver capabilities at scale.Manage projects with a focus on design for manufacturability and engineering principles.Lead cross-functional design reviews and mentor less experienced engineers.Essential SkillsProficiency in CREO/Solidworks with 5+ years of experience.Experience in thermal management and design for manufacturability.Strong understanding of mechanical design, GD&T, and new product development.Ability to manage high-density PCB enclosures with a preference for optical/photonic systems.Additional Skills & QualificationsMechanical Engineering Degree (BSME/MSME/PhD or equivalent experience).8+ years of experience in mechanical design and/or verification.Ability to influence others and share best practices.Effective communication skills and proficiency in English.Experience in developing projects in a stage-gate process (PLCQ).Work Environment
Regular business hours with some additional hours as required. The role includes domestic and global travel up to 20%. The work environment is climate controlled during normal business hours.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $60.00/hr.
