Otis is looking to find a Mechanical Engineer, which provides product support for various elevator components and mechanical systems, playing a crucial role in maintaining product integrity, evaluating opportunities, and integrating new component designs while adhering to cost and schedule commitments. Responsibilities include analyzing, designing, and modifying elevator components and systems. The candidate should be able to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical assembly drawings, and building plans to analyze complex problems, identify root causes, and develop innovative solutions. Collaboration across engineering disciplines, including electrical, software, and test engineering, is essential. The candidate must be a self-starter with excellent interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively on cross-functional teams with manufacturing operations, supply management, contract logistics, finance, and field support to ensure design compatibility. This entry-level professional role involves contributing theoretical knowledge to project teams, handling difficult or complex assignments under moderate supervision, and influencing others within the work area through explanation of facts, policies, and practices.

On a typical day you will:

Work to achieve day-to-day objectives primarily within area of responsibility.

Work is moderately supervised typically on smaller projects or task-related activities.

Identify, define, and resolve problems that are not immediately evident.

Problems are typically within a single area of responsibility and are typically solved through exercise of discretion and / or judgment, often drawing from prior experiences or standard procedures and basic analysis.

Communicates with parties within and outside of own team to explain facts, policies, and practices related to work area, influencing decision-makers with recommended courses of action.

What you will need to be successful:

BS degree with 0 to 5+ years’ experience or MS degree with 0 to 2+ years’ experience

Sound Mechanical Engineering background including Statics, Dynamics, Structural Analysis, and Systems Analysis

Experience in Pro Engineer/PTC Creo Parametric is desirable

Ability to work with suppliers/3rd parties

Experience with test and measurement equipment

Understanding of electrical and software functions

Strong communications skills and leadership ability

MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.)
