Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to support the design and construction of nuclear facilities within one of the UK's most high-profile nuclear projects.

You will play a key role in clarifying deliverables, performing mechanical stress analyses, and ensuring the integrity of equipment anchorage and valve calculations. This role involves close collaboration with design offices, suppliers, and construction teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Clarify construction deliverables with design officesAnalyse input data and update hypothesis notesPerform mechanical stress and anchorage capability analysesPropose design modifications where criteria are not metSupport technical issue resolution during manufacturing and constructionConduct hand calculations and use macros for feasibility assessmentsReview subcontractor calculation notes and drawingsEnsure compliance with QA procedures and interface with CAD teamsLead technical meetings and manage stakeholder interfaces

QualificationsDegree in Mechanical EngineeringExperience in civil works and steel structure designKnowledge of EUROCODE and RCC-M (preferred)Strong interpersonal, organisational, and communication skillsFluent in English, both written and spokenAbility to manage multiple interfaces and meet deadlines

Desirable:

Familiarity with nuclear power plant operations and safety aspectsExperience with 2D/3D design tools (Navisworks, PDMS)
