Mechanical Engineer

Airswift has been tasked by a major Oil and Gas client to seek a Mechanical Engineer to work within their facilities in Baytown, TX for a 12-months contract with benefits.
Job Summary:
In this role, you will provide technical/mechanical guidance for design, operation, troubleshooting, optimization, and reliability improvements across the global research sites. The scope of the role includes supporting the design and development of specialized tools, reactors and vessels used in research and/or for automation of processes.
Primary Job Functions
• Comply with safety/health and environmental policy
• Obtain working knowledge of different lab units, pilot plants and how to address design issues and constraints
• Sound understanding of ASME Section VIII Div. 1, ASME B31.3 and ASME Section IX
• Proficiency in analyzing stress and strain on pressurized vessels, piping, and tubing
• Provide technical expertise in engineering analysis of bad actors and increasing reliability of the units
• Provide technical support for functional failures
• Design fixed equipment as well as custom mechanical parts to support projects and operations
• Proficiency in SolidWorks
• Proficiency in GD&T and welding design
• Design specialized tools and automation systems to create efficiencies and add new capabilities
• Own site safety practices related to the mechanical and maintenance engineering and steward updates and revisions thereof.
• Site subject matter expert on interpretation of the global practices, and pilot plant and laboratory practices
• Provide technical guidance and develop/update design practices and safety standards for the research organization
• Support of Global Lab Operations including any required travel
• Maintain and update the site Mechanical Engineering intranet site and develop tools and work process documents to improve support capabilities
Job Requirements
• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and minimum of 5 yrs. relevant experience
• Possesses strong interpersonal and communication skills to allow for effective teamwork on projects, relationship building across business lines, and sharing of results to other teams and third parties.
• Extremely self-motivated with the ability to take prompt action to accomplish objectives, effectively prioritize workload, and progress multiple projects simultaneously.
• Adaptable and approaches change with a constructive and positive attitude.
Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Experience
• Problem solving, teamwork, leadership, good communication skills
• Knowledge of equipment specification, appropriation request preparation, Management of Change, development of repair packages
• Sound understanding and experience using ASME Section VIII Div. 1, ASME B31.3 and ASME Section IX
• Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SolidWorks
• Experience in FEA structural analysis. Knowledge in Thermal, Fatigue, and Cyclic analysis is preferred but not required.
