Mechanical / Electrical Test Technician III
Job Description Role Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and hands-on Mechanical or Electrical Test Technician (Contract) to support our multidisciplinary research team in the testing and validation of mechanical and electro-mechanical systems. The ideal candidate will assist engineers and researchers by preparing test setups, executing test protocols, collecting data, and maintaining laboratory equipment. This role is critical to ensuring the quality and reliability of our research hardware and prototypes. Responsibilities ● Set up, operate, and maintain electro-mechanical test equipment and fixtures. ● Execute test protocols for components, assemblies, and systems under the direction of engineers and researchers. ● Collect, record, and organize test data with high attention to details. ● Assist in troubleshooting and debugging test setups and hardware issues. ● Support the fabrication, assembly, and modification of test fixtures and prototypes. ● Maintain laboratory organization, inventory, and equipment calibration records. ● Communicate test results and observations clearly to the engineering team. ● Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, safe work environment. Skills and Requirements ● Associate’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering Technology or a related technical field, or equivalent hands-on experience. ● 3+ years of experience in electronics testing, laboratory, or technician roles. ● Familiarity with test equipment (e.g., Instron test systems,Keyence microscopes). ● Basic proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and measurement instruments (calipers, micrometers, multi-meters, etc.). ● Basic to intermediate Python coding skills for data analysis or automation. ● Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and test procedures. ● Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. ● Good written and verbal communication skills ● Experience with automated test systems or scripting for lab equipment. ● Familiarity with reliability testing standards for consumer electronics. ● Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team. ● Experience with data acquisition systems and basic data analysis (Excel, Python, or similar). ● Experience in a research or R&D environment. ● Familiarity with CAD software or EDA for reviewing mechanical parts/drawings or for electrical schematics and layout. ● Experience with the assembly and troubleshooting of electro-mechanical systems. ● Knowledge of safety protocols in a laboratory or test environment.
