Responsible for the design, analysis, and coordination of mechanical systems for hydropower plants, including turbine-generator units, governors, MIV, EOT cranes, and balance-of-plant systems (cooling water, drainage/dewatering, HVAC, fire protection, compressed air).
Your roleTo perform the role successfully, the candidate will be responsible for but not limited to the following independently or under the supervision of senior engineers:
Prepare and assisting conceptual Design of complex projects.Detailed designs of for following balance of plant system.Generation Station service AC and DC power distribution system including motor controls.Grounding systems.Powerhouse LV building services system (Fire Alarm, Lighting, security and access control, HVAC) MV/LV cable system.Cable tray systems.Protection and Control System.Instrumentation.Prepare detailed specifications for following components and system.Generator including excitation systems.MV Switchgear including bus duct and generator circuit breakers.LV Station Service Equipment.Auxiliary systems for generation plant (governor system, intake and spillway gates control, electrical systems).Generator Step-up Transformers and station service transformers.High Voltage AIS and GIS Equipment.Prepare the design basis memorandum and detailed engineering scope and guide the assigned discipline engineers to align the engineering deliverables according to project requirements.Prepare Power Single Line Diagram, Relay and Metering One-line diagram including specifying the ratings of the major equipment.Prepare detailed layout drawings for generation plant and substation/ switchyards.Prepare AC three-line diagram, Elementary Schematics and Wiring diagrams.Prepare Bills of Materials and Cable Schedules.Review manufactures drawings, calculations and specifications.Performing system studies using ETAP software for short circuit, grounding, load flow and arc flash calculations.Calculations and preparation of protection relay settings.Preparation of testing and commissioning procedures.Preparation and review of as built/ record/ closeout drawings and documents.Preparation and review of quality assurance procedures, performing inspections at vendor’s workshops.Work closely within a multidisciplinary engineering team, coordinating with civil, mechanical, and other electrical engineers.Work effectively with peers, junior engineers and other discipline designers to ensure accurate delivery that will meet utility Standards, industry standards and meet good engineering practices, policies and procedures.About youA bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering from a recognized Institution.A minimum of 7 to 12 years of experience in hydropower generation.Proficiency in ETAP and Microsoft Office software.Good knowledge of North American codes and standards such as CSA, IEEE and ANSI.AutoCAD drafting software experience.Revit or other 3D software knowledge will be an asset.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Reward & benefitsExplore the rewards and benefits that help you thrive – at every stage of your life and your career.
