Mechanical Design Engineer
Job Title: Mechanical Project Engineer

Job Description

This role involves brainstorming and conceptualizing designs for material handling equipment, primarily focusing on 3D design and assembly connections using Configura software. The work is experimental, involving simulations in CAD to test ideas before final detailing. The engineer will need a strong background in 3D design to creatively integrate new machinery with existing facilities.

ResponsibilitiesDesign material handling equipment such as conveyor belts and other machinery.Add capacity to sites, retrofit areas for new equipment, and rearrange existing equipment.Figure out layouts and create scope of work for projects.Write RFPs, collaborate with vendors for site selection, and manage engineering design handoffs to execution.Conduct site visits and develop models to support design specifications.Ensure timely completion of projects, meeting all deadlines and milestones.Essential SkillsMechanical design of material handling equipment.Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D and Solidworks.Bachelor's degree in engineering (mechanical, industrial, electrical, or manufacturing).5-7 years of experience in manufacturing or industrial design.Project management skills with hands-on design experience in a manufacturing setting.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in design across automotive, warehouse systems, or manufacturing.Knowledge of upstream/downstream changes within systems engineering.Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in design engineering, automation, material handling, and conveyor systems.Work Environment

This role requires up to 20% travel for site visits, with no weekend travel required. The engineer will report to the Industrial Design Manager and work primarily from one of the preferred hub locations, which include Bellevue, Atlanta, Nashville, Houston, Dallas, and Austin. The initial contract is for 11 months with the possibility of extension or transition to a full-time role. PTO and holidays are offered, with flexible unpaid time off and a higher rate of pay to compensate for additional time off.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Nashville, Tennessee.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $65.00/hr.
