Mechanical CAD Designer

The Mechanical Designer/CAD Designer will work to manage and create all drafted documentation associated with projects. The documentation will primarily be created using AutoCAD and or AutoCAD MEP/CADWorx Plant, and the scope of the job will span all elements of the project life cycle inclusive of gathering project requirements, preliminary and final design, procurement and As-Builts of equipment and materials, project monitoring and control.

Work will also include updating management of documentation for existing equipment systems.

This position is onsite in Coventry, Rhode Island.

What you’ll be doing as a Mechanical CAD Designer:CAD Operation/Design; preparing design drawings, details, and sketches from sketches, concepts or mark-ups provided by team engineers or project management staffDrawing and plot drawings to scale, as requiredWorking under the direction of the CAD Manager to design complex drawings, construction documents, routine design layouts, detailed drawings, equipment skid and piping.Prepare complex drawings, scaled equipment layouts, and equipment detailsPrepare and work with bills of material and other construction documentsDevelop equipment/material schedules and material takeoffs, from drawings or sketchesSupport preparation of requests for bids for subcontractors and material vendors, as directedCreate and markup existing PDF documents using AdobeMaintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, and reviewing relevant technical publications.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail needed.Ability to handle multiple tasks in timely manner.Strong communication and interpersonal skillsDemonstrated ability to appropriately handle confidential and sensitive information.Strong ability to be adaptable and flexible to shifting priorities and changesAbility to function effectively in a collaborative team environmentWhat you need to be successful:Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with a concentration in a relevant disciplineAt least 5 years of related work experience with CAD

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 lbs., and to team lift up to 50 lbs.Ability to perform prolonged kneeling, squatting, sitting, crawling, and climbing stairs, ladders and work standsAbility to stand for extended periods during the entire duration of shiftExcellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for handling small components and toolsFlexibility to bend, stoop, and crouch as required for tasksGood vision, including the ability to focus on small details and identify defects
