This is a skilled position involving making repairs to and maintaining construction equipment and mechanical equipment such as paving equipment, plant machines, aggregate equipment, engines, motors, pneumatic tools, and other equipment by performing the following duties:

 

·         Troubleshoot and diagnose issues on Medium and Heavy-duty trucks and any other piece of equipment requiring repairs.

·         Operates and inspects machines or equipment to diagnose defects.

 

 

·         Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts using hoists and hand tools.

 

 

·         Examines components and systems for loose ,broken  or bad parts.

 

 

·         Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.

 

 

·         Repair and maintenance, including brakes, suspension, steering components, electrical, some hydraulics, and some specialty systems like cameras and proximity sensors or replaces defective parts.

 

 

·         Installs special functional and structural parts in devices.

 

 

·         Lubricates and cleans parts.

 

 

·         Starts and/or devices to test their performance.

 

 

·         Welds broken parts and structural members.

·         1-3 years related experience preferred.

 

 

·         Hydraulic, pneumatic, & diesel repair, and fabricating experience preferred.

 

 

·         Welding experience helpful.

 

 

·         High school diploma, general education degree (GED), and/or Diploma from trade school in Heavy Equipment repair or Diesel repair.  

 

·         Ability to add, subtract, multiple and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
