None/Not RequiredThe Global Technical Solutions (GTS) organization brings employees together across Collins that work on Electronic Computer-Aided Design (ECAD), Mechanical Computer-Aided Design (MCAD), Technical Publications and services supporting the authoring of technical documentation.
Join Collins Aerospace and the Global Technical Solutions (GTS) organization as an MCAD, Drafting & Product Definition Supervisor. In this role you will be expected to manage a team of all levels of professionals supporting Engineering, establish objectives and guidelines for processes, product specifications and other areas of Drafting & Product Definition.
This position will sit at our Santa Isabel, PR location. You must be residing in Puerto Rico at the time of starting employment. Relocation is not offered.
This role is categorized as hybrid, with 3 days onsite and 2 days remote following the schedule assigned by the Manager.
What YOU will do:
Provide technical leadership and assist in training less experienced mechanical designers, drafters and checkers to help them diagnose and solve problems and build capabilities.Support and evaluate employees on the development of design drawings according to engineering sketches and proposal specifications.Lead the way on skills development for Model Based Definition (MDB) and GD&T for the team.Ensure efficiency on the usage of methods and tools (NX, CATIA, PTC Creo, Teamcenter)Lead the discipline strategy for skills development providing results on team capability growth.Work with engineering and other GTS managers to ensure product quality, process alignment and implementation of streamlined processes.Use highly developed technical knowledge and project management skills for project planning budget management, and methodology development to ensure that projects are completed on-time, within budget and according to defined goals.May assist with the preparation of business plans, proposal work statements and specifications, operating budgets, and the financial terms and conditions of contracts to ensure that progress and performance can be tracked.Direct recruitment, placement, and evaluation of mechanical designers, drafters and checkers to ensure the effective deployment of talent.Oversee the functional management of direct reports including but not limited to career development and succession planning to meet the organization’s needs.Work with various business units on staff and project allocation dynamically.Must be willing and able to travel up to 20% of the time primarily within Puerto Rico and the United States.What YOU will learn:

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experienceDemonstrated professional experience communicating in English (verbal and written).Experience in managing programs/projects within a highly matrixed organization including successfully managing a group of engineers/drafters/designers/checkers under technical guidance.U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.Qualifications We Prefer:
BS and/or MS in Mechanical Engineering or Degree on Technical Drafting with experience in the Aerospace IndustryExperience in creating career development programs to ensure skills and performance of employees meet the organization’s current and future needs.Previous experience working in the aerospace industry with working knowledge of industry standards.4+ years of design experience in the engineering field.Experience with GD&T and working knowledge of industry standards including ASME/ANSI Y14.4+ years of experience in 3D modeling with CAD tools including NX (formally Unigraphics) and PLM Teamcenter.What We Offer
