Teacher Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:

Employees will participate in the ministry of the school which stems from a non-denominational Christian faith perspective.  Agree with the BCS Statement of Faith, Mission Statement and Code of Conduct.  Successful short and long term lesson planning Correcting, grading and returning paperwork in a timely fashion Organizing the scope and sequence of learning for students Communicating with students, parents, co-workers and administration effectively Must have adequate knowledge of your subject matter Willingness to work with students who are struggling and/or advanced Managing a classroom with diverse student needs Creating and implementing a successful classroom management plan

Skills:

Must be able to teach classes at 6th Grade level through Algebra I and possibly Geometry.

Under direction, to help each pupil develop competence in basic mathematical skills and an understanding of the structure of mathematics; to motivate each pupil to apply mathematical understanding and skills in the solution of practical problems; to encourage pupils to develop their special talents in the field of mathematics.

 

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS This position  requires subject area expertise commonly associated with Middle and High School teaching and instruction directly related coursework knowledge is required to perform problem analysis using prescribed principles, methods and concepts. 

 EXAMPLES OF DUTIES 

Teaches courses in mathematics to middle/high  pupils, following the course of study adopted by BCS and appropriate curriculum publications as guidelines in teaching individual course content. Utilizes an adopted course of study, instructional program guidelines, and other materials in planning and developing lesson plans and teaching outlines. Pursues a variety of methodology in teaching and instructing pupils, including lectures, demonstrations, discussions, lectures, and laboratory experiences. Conducts teaching and instructional activities, using educational equipment, materials, books, and other learning aids. Possess a range of mental and emotional maturity. Reviews, analyzes and evaluates the history, background, and assessment of pupils in designing instructional programs to meet individual educational needs. Individualizes and adapts educational processes and procedures to enhance pupil educational opportunities. Provides group and individual instruction to motivate pupils, and effectively utilizes the time available for instructional activities. Maintains appropriate standards of pupil behavior, using behavioral management strategies and techniques, including positive reinforcement and behavior shaping procedures. Reviews, analyzes, evaluates, and reports pupil academic, social, and emotional growth.

QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge of:

Principles, theories, methods, techniques, and strategies pertaining to teaching and instruction of middle level math students; Academic, social, and behavioral characteristics of middle/high level pupils; Behavior management and behavior shaping strategies, techniques and methods, and conflict resolution procedures;    Plan, organize, develop, and conduct a comprehensive teaching and instruction program for pupils at the middle/high level; Provide appropriate and effective learning experiences for pupils from a wide range of learning levels and cultural backgrounds; Effectively assess the instructional and educational needs of pupils, and design, develop, and implement sound instructional and educational programs; Provide a motivating and stimulating learning environment.

Employees participate in the ministry of the school which is non-denominational Christian faith. WORK YEAR: BCS has approximately 180 teaching days. You spend 1.5 weeks before the students arrive on campus, planning, preparing and training. This allows you to be prepared for your students when they arrive on the first day. There are various workdays throughout the year which result in a teaching contract of 194 (approximate) workdays beginning in mid-August and ending in early June.
