DESCRIPTION
As a Materials Planner II at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you'll contribute to ensuring efficient flow of materials through our production cycle to enable scientific discoveries. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize inventory levels, manage material requirements planning (MRP), and enhance supply chain effectiveness. This role combines analytical thinking with strategic planning to maintain optimal inventory levels while meeting production demands and customer expectations. You'll apply your expertise to analyze supply chain data, manage vendor relationships, and implement process improvements that support our mission of making the world healthier, cleaner and safer.
*This will be based out of the Balliol Business park location near the Cramlington site
REQUIREMENTS
• Advanced Degree with no prior experience, or Bachelor's Degree plus proven experience in materials planning, supply chain, or related manufacturing environment
• Preferred Fields of Study: Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration or related field
• APICS certification preferred
• Six Sigma Green/Black Belt certification preferred
• Advanced proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Oracle, JDE or similar)
• Expert level Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and data analysis tools
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities for inventory optimization and demand planning
• Experience with MPS, DRP, and S&OP processes
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data management and reporting
• English language proficiency required, additional languages beneficial
• Knowledge of inventory management principles and supply chain best practices
• Experience with continuous improvement methodologies
• Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders
• Self-directed with strong organizational and time management skills
• Knowledge of FDA, cGMP, ISO or other relevant quality standards preferred
