Trane Technologies is hiring a Materials Control Manager in Columbia, SC. The Materials Control Manager will be responsible for all production scheduling, materials handling, and all materials project initiatives across multiple focus factories and Product Growth Teams. This position is also a key enabler of lean and continuous improvement in the plant. Key performance indicators for this position are inventory turns, on-time shipping to requested date and/or order fill rate, and days past due for all products and lines for the site.
What you will do:
Coordinates the day-to-day activities of team members to ensure goods are moved, handled, and stored in accordance with company protocols.
Interprets replenishment orders, line requests, and shipping readiness aligning with customer demand.
Monitors the effectiveness of handling procedures and space utilization and make recommendations for improvements.
Prioritizes and assigns tasks to ensure that the team's resources are used effectively and that work schedules and targets are met.
The role plays a vital role in ensuring production schedules and targets are met by supervising the daily activities of material handling staff.
Impacts the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of cross functional teams.
Trains new workers in the plant's operating procedures and standards.
Supervises staff to ensure all materials are handled correctly and that all machines and equipment are operated safely and according to instructions.
Primarily impacts own work area with no budget or P&L accountability.
Interacts frequently with internal contacts (cross functional teams, hourly employees, front-line supervisors, department managers) to explain policies, practices and procedures.
What you will bring:
Bachelor’s Degree required
A minimum of 5 years of experience in the integrated functions of materials management in a manufacturing environment that has embraced lean concepts, MRP manufacturing practices, and progressive supplier relationships.
A minimum of 3 years in managerial experience focusing on standardizing planning & execution, reducing sourcing complexity, and talent development.
Experience with rate-based or flow line (non-MRP) and job shop manufacturing environments.
Experience in operations, inventory management, MRP, visual management systems, scheduling, and lean manufacturing processes.
