The Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) team has a long history of supporting the Navy's mission to provide affordable and credible strategic defense. With over 60 years of experience, the team has developed a unique expertise in delivering advanced technologies to keep the country and its allies secure. As a Materials and Processes Engineer you will be engaged with work on a broad range of projects in both a laboratory and manufacturing environment that will challenge you to learn and grow in your career. Working side by side with designers, test and manufacturing engineers, you’ll use your education, experience and growing expertise to develop and evaluate new and innovative technology to survive in the most hostile of environments.
In this role you will:
• Select Materials, and Processes (M & P) on new designs that will help defend our country, get hands-on manufacturing experience and provide oversight to an extensive supply chain providing products critical to Mission Success
• Perform Materials and Processes (M&P) technical engineering assignments
• Troubleshoot problems and find innovative solutions
• Participate in the selection, qualification, testing, and failure analysis of materials & processes
• Prepare technical and progress reports on assigned tasks
• Prepare specifications, evaluate suppliers and analyze test reports
• Coordinate with other disciplines such as Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Engineering, and Procurement

• A self-starter who develops solutions to technical issues
• A motivated individual who's able to work closely within a geographically diverse team to resolve technical issues
• Someone with the ability to handle shifting priorities, multiple projects and timeline pressure to meet deadlines
• Someone comfortable with communicating in a variety of forums
• The ability to work with management and program representatives at several levels
Successful applicants typically have a minimum of 9+ years of related professional experience and a Bachelors degree from an accredited college within a related discipline. (Material Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry / Chemical Engineering, Physics, or other Engineering related fields)
Basic Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications - Skills:
• Materials and processes related experience and/or field of study
• Background in material science or engineering with a strong foundation in metallic material properties, processing, and characterization.
• Experience with technical requirements (materials and process specifications, program plans/requirements, etc.)
• Familiarity with other non-metal materials (i.e. organic, composite, ceramic, etc.)
Basic Qualifications - Security Clearance:
• To meet requirements of the program/customer, this position requires the selected employee to be a U.S. Citizen.
• Qualified applicants must be eligible to obtain a Top Secret security clearance to be considered.
Desired Skills:
• Experience with manufacturing processes
• Familiar with non-conformance and failure analysis disposition
• Good writing and verbal communication skills
• Candidate must be capable of performing in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and team environment
• Active or Current DoD Top Secret Security Clearance

Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
