Job Title: Material Test Engineer
Job Description
As a Material Test Engineer, you will be responsible for providing daily support to structures production. Your expertise in lightweight design or carbon fiber reinforced plastics will be advantageous, along with your prior experience in non-metallic materials and processes.
Responsibilities
+ Determine materials and production processes for new launcher structures and related space products.
+ Define and optimize manufacturing instructions for composite structures.
+ Lead material characterizations and support structural design of space structures.
+ Support production using existing processes and introduce new manufacturing processes.
+ Solve problems associated with production processes.
+ Oversee the entire production process and guide technicians.
+ Perform development tests and create technical documentation.
+ Establish technical delivery specifications and manufacturing procedures.
+ Negotiate with customers and suppliers on materials and production processes.
+ Assist in proposal development for new projects, including cost estimations and material choices.
Essential Skills
+ Experience in materials engineering, particularly in composite materials.
+ Hands-on experience with composite materials and test reports.
+ Experience within a test lab environment.
+ Proficiency in writing and executing test plans.
+ Knowledge of test methods and Material Review Board (MRB) processes.
+ Experience with non-conformance issues.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Specialization in lightweight design or carbon fiber reinforced plastics.
+ Experience with polymer fiber plastic is preferred.
+ Involvement in SAE teams during college is advantageous.
Work Environment
This position is based onsite in Trinity, AL. The work hours are flexible, typically from 7 AM to 4 PM. The role involves working within a lab environment and requires collaboration with various teams to ensure efficient production processes.
Job Type & Location
This is a 12 month Contract to Hire position based out of Trinity, Alabama.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $46.00 - $57.00/hr.
