The Material Planner is responsible for using the master and detailed production schedules to procure materials required to support the manufacturing process for assigned areas within the plant. The successful candidate will be required to optimize the purchasing requirements in an effort to meet service, cost, and inventory goals.
Main Responsibilities
Ensure personal compliance with all company Safety regulations and guidelines, Quality System, Operational, and Human Resource policies, procedures, and practices, including housekeeping procedures
Execute the purchasing plan by converting purchase requisitions to purchase orders
Work with suppliers to meet plan delivery date and quantity requirements to optimize service, inventory and cost
Utilize timely and effective communication of issues in purchasing materials that may result in poor plan adherence. This includes providing daily updates to advise both internal and external personnel regarding supplier and open purchase order status exceptions, identifying appropriate re-planning and/or recommended courses of action to minimize non-conformances
Analyze previous purchasing plans for deviations and work with the Procurement buyers and management to determine how future deviations can be prevented
Achieve KPY's to support the organization's service, working capital, and cost goals. Provide formal and informal reporting on plant performance such as backorders, plan adherence, and inventory results
Notify appropriate parties and drive corrective action for inventory discrepancy resolution
Effectively communicate, collaborating with suppliers, internal plant personnel, planning, and Supply Chain management
Support a continuous improvement environment by providing plant and planning management ideas on how to maximize performance and customer satisfaction. Generate and implement ideas that improve results related to goals
Balance several priorities at one time to effectively multi-task throughout the day
Lead new process implementation initiatives
Basic Qualification
4 year degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field of study
4+ years of applicable Supply Chain Planning experience
Proficiency with common ERP and planning/materials management/procurement systems and MS Office, primarily Excel
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in a plant manufacturing environment
APICS Certification preferred
Specific Planning System Experience (JDA, SAP, etc)
