The successful candidate will be responsible for verifying that all materials used in the project meet the required quality standards, project specifications, and relevant codes. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, in-depth knowledge of materials utilized in metro systems, and effective collaboration with project teams to ensure smooth execution. The position entails a 60-hour workweek.

Key Responsibilities:

Material Inspection:

Conduct thorough inspections of materials delivered to the site to ensure compliance with approved specifications, drawings, and standards.

Identify and report any non-conformities or defects and oversee corrective actions.

Documentation:

Maintain accurate records of material inspections, including test results, certificates, and approval documents.

Verify and review mill test certificates, quality assurance documents, and delivery notes.

Coordination:

Collaborate with procurement, site engineers, and quality assurance teams to ensure materials are delivered on time and meet project requirements.

Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors for material testing and quality assurance.

Testing & Compliance:

Conduct on-site material testing or coordinate with third-party testing agencies as required.

Ensure compliance with safety standards and relevant regulations.

Monitoring:

Monitor storage conditions and ensure proper handling of materials to prevent damage or deterioration.

Provide recommendations for material substitutions or alternatives, if necessary, to maintain project timelines and budgets.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.

Minimum 5 years of experience as a Material Inspector, preferably in metro or rail projects.

Strong knowledge of construction materials, quality standards, and testing procedures.

Familiarity with international codes and standards (e.g., ASTM, BS, ISO).

Excellent communication and reporting skills.

Proficiency in using inspection tools, software, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in metro or rail projects in the UAE or GCC region.

Certification in Quality Control/Quality Assurance is an advantage.
