We are currently looking for a Master Operator to join our team at our Plover, WI – Appetizers Facility.

 About the role

As a Master Operator, you will play a key role in training, developing, and certifying employees within our production and packaging teams. Your focus will be on onboarding, skill-building, safety, and continuous improvement to ensure every team member is set up for success. This position works closely with the Training Lead and Crew Supervisors to validate job competencies and uphold performance standards across Grades 1–6.

 Statement of Job

The Master Operator is responsible for implementing and maintaining all training and certification programs for processing and packaging employees in Grades 1 through 6. This includes hands-on and classroom training, onboarding new hires, maintaining documentation, and updating standard work procedures. The role promotes a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and accountability while acting as a training leader on the production floor.

 Major Duties and Responsibilities

Training & Certifications

Train, coach, and guide production employees to ensure full understanding and execution of their responsibilities

Conduct onboarding for all new employees, including area walkthroughs, PPE usage, and task expectations

Partner with the Training Lead for final validation of certifications across Grades 1–6

Maintain and update training documentation and provide daily updates to the Crew Supervisor and Training Lead

Prepare employees for certification and re-certification through hands-on and classroom sessions

Create and maintain training aids, troubleshooting tools, and track progress to ensure consistency

Promote safety by leading Lockout/Tagout (LO/TO) training and ensuring compliance

Provide forklift certification training and sign-off on all employee certifications

May be required to train during plant shutdowns

Standard Work

Act as the primary author of standard work in the processing area

Review and adjust standard work documentation as needed

Continuous Improvement

Actively promote Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)

Engage in quality process techniques and participate in sanitation days with a focus on SSOP training

Support maintenance coordination and assist with equipment troubleshooting

Lead or assist in initiatives such as MDI audits, workmanship audits, and CCP training sessions

Additional Responsibilities

Welcome new hires and provide guided tours of designated work areas

Facilitate classroom training and create One Point Lessons (OPLs)

Own and update training documents including videos, PowerPoints, and SOPs

Complete glass audits and support sanitation efforts

Maintain communication with the training team and support all assigned training-related duties

 Required Education, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (Competencies)

High school diploma or equivalent required

Prior experience in food manufacturing or a similar production environment

Proven ability to train and develop others

Strong organizational and communication skills

Knowledge of GMPs, SSOPs, and HACCP

Familiarity with safety programs such as LO/TO and forklift certification

Proficient in Microsoft Office and able to manage digital training documentation

 Physical Requirements

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

Prolonged periods of standing and walking

Frequent bending, reaching, and twisting

Ability to work in cold and loud environments

Safe operation of necessary equipment and tools
