The Master ECAD Designer is a recognized subject matter expert responsible for executing, reviewing, and guiding the most complex ECAD designs for high-reliability circuit card assemblies (CCAs) used in aerospace and communications systems. This role performs hands-on ECAD design and serves as a trusted authority in design standards, documentation practices, and ECAD tool usage. The designer plays a critical role in ensuring design quality, preventing costly errors through expert review, and mentoring designers across multiple programs and locations. While not responsible for project ownership or work assignment, the role significantly influences ECAD design quality, methodology, and technical excellence across the organization. An employee may be expected to travel to the site location as needed. *This position is remote; however, if you live within a reasonable commute of a Collins site with other colleagues you interact with, your manager will discuss whether there is a degree of onsite presence associated with this role Preferred Skills & Experience 10+ years of progressively advanced ECAD/PCB design experience; 30+ years strongly preferred Expert-level proficiency in industry-standard ECAD tools, including Mentor Graphics (Xpedition, DxDesigner, Design Capture, Board Station, VeriBest), Cadence (OrCAD, Allegro), and Altium Demonstrated experience designing complex multilayer (up to 32-layer), rigid and flex circuit card assemblies for aerospace, military, or high-reliability applications Advanced expertise in signal integrity, controlled impedance, differential pair routing, length matching, DDR, clock distribution, and power delivery design Extensive experience with PCB fabrication and assembly processes, stack-up definition, DFM/DFA analysis, and direct collaboration with fabricators and assembly houses Proven ability to serve as lead or final checker on complex ECAD designs and documentation packages Deep experience developing, maintaining, and governing ECAD symbol, footprint, and part libraries in alignment with IPC and internal standards Strong background in ECAD documentation generation, ECN processes, configuration management, and design data archiving Demonstrated leadership in ECAD tool deployment, workflow development, process standardization, and legacy tool migration Experience mentoring and training ECAD designers and engineers across multiple locations and experience levels Experience supporting or leading offshore and outsourced ECAD design efforts Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Configuration Management, and Supply Chain Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence technical decisions and represent ECAD expertise in program and organizational forums **_As part of our commitment to maintaining a secure hiring process, candidates may be asked to attend select steps of the interview process in-person at one of our office locations, regardless of whether the role is designated as on-site, hybrid or remote._** The salary range for this role is 66,800 USD - 127,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
