Marketing Manager

SUMMARY OF JOB PURPOSE AND FUNCTION:

The Marketing Manager plays a pivotal role in shaping and executing the strategic vision of VCA’s brand across multiple channels; including content, digital, web, experiential, and local hospital marketing. This role is both strategic and hands-on, requiring a blend of high-level aesthetic judgment, expert technical marketing skills, and strong project management capabilities. Responsible for driving growth, engagement, and brand consistency across a diverse network of veterinary hospitals, the Marketing Manager will lead the development and implementation of integrated campaigns, client engagement initiatives, and participate in brand-building efforts. They will collaborate cross-functionally with other departments, managing multiple projects from ideation to execution while ensuring alignment with organizational goals. The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic environment, balancing creative vision with executional excellence to enhance the visibility, reputation, and client loyalty of the VCA brand. A data-driven marketer, they are client-obsessed, mad for measurement, and excited to help us continue to lead the way as we take care of the future of veterinary medicine. Occasional travel may be required to support hospital teams, attend industry events, and participate in corporate meetings.

Reporting into the Sr Dir, Referral Care (Int.) + Care Access, the Marketing Manager is responsible for key prioritized ranges with the VCA Animal Hospitals brand, supporting the brand towards aspirations to double the number of pets it serves by 2030. As a driver of the Access to Care portfolio, the Marketing Manager will craft the campaign strategy, promotion roadmap (in partnership with medical and operations), 360 activation plan, and measure & track results.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

Campaign Planning + Execution:

Translate company goals into actionable marketing plans that span digital, content, experiential and local outreach initiatives.

 Shape and implement promotional activity, including client-facing executions and hospital training and awareness initiatives, in support of brand objectives and OGSM goals.

Develop and implement comprehensive campaigns to support hospital growth, client acquisition, and retention.

Coordinate with other marketing functions including Creative Services, Events, Marketing Automation, Digital Marketing, Corporate Communications and Regional Marketing to execute marketing plans and campaigns

Internal + External Collaboration:

 Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure content is on-brand, compelling, and effective.

 Collaborate on brand positioning and messaging for B2C audiences to ensure consistency and impact

Efficiently and effectively leverage + manage agency resources to execute deliverables on time and with excellence.

 Contribute to the planning of the marketing roadmap(s) by managing the strategy around campaign execution and testing

Insights + Analysis:

 Collect and analyze customer, consumer and brand data as input to creation of brand strategy.

 Effectively forecast impact of plans, ensuring relevance to achievement of assigned KPIs; monitor ROI; test, learn, iterate accordingly.

 Be accountable for monitoring brand expenditures and managing the assigned budget effectively.        

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree

MBA

7-8 years marketing experience

3 years brand management experience

Microsoft Office suite, particularly PowerPoint and Excel

Expert-level PowerPoint and Excel skills

*All degrees will be deemed “or equivalent combination of education and experience” unless absolutely required to do the job (i.e., DVM degree for Veterinarian, Law degree for Attorney, etc.).

PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Strong experience building, deploying and optimizing omnichannel brand plans and campaigns. 

Excellent communication skills, including oral, written, and active listening, with the ability to deliver compelling, effective presentations to a wide range of stakeholders. This includes internal teams, hospital staff, executive leadership at VCA/MVH, and external partner organizations.

High levels of interpersonal skills, specifically around influencing, resolving conflict, and creative problem solving. 

Biased toward action. Takes initiative, entrepreneurial, can hit the ground running and move projects forward right from the start. 

Proficient in managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders. Well organized, good at prioritization, attentive to details, clear oral and written communicator. 

Proven analytic skills – must be comfortable mining and analyzing data then developing clear and actionable conclusions/recommendations.  

CORE COMPETENCIES:

Ability to quickly and intuitively assess marketing dynamics and situations and act accordingly. 

Ability to develop and execute long-term marketing strategies that align with corporate objectives and drive measurable growth.

Skilled in managing multiple, concurrent marketing initiatives from concept to completion, meeting deadlines, budgets, and performance goals.

Experience working effectively across departments (e.g., hospital operations, business development, HR) and with external partners to align marketing efforts.

Additional Information:  Compensation is negotiable based on education, experience, and other relevant credentials. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $80,000 - $115,000. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
