ActivitiesThe role involves providing in‑depth analysis to identify current and future drivers and behaviors of the U.S. gas market, as well as offering proactive advisory views to relevant trading desks and management. In addition, the position contributes to building and communicating a global perspective on energy markets, enhancing the company’s understanding of market interactions. The jobholder also promotes TGP’s trading activities to market partners and counterparties through reports, meetings, and participation in external conferences and events.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain models to analyze U.S. gas market prices and fundamental data (supply, demand, storage, weather impacts, etc.), while staying current on market structures, companies, infrastructure, and regulations.Collaborate with IT and data scientists to design and maintain analytical tools and processes that enhance and automate data gathering and analysis; monitor new data sources and tools to expand the scope of U.S. gas analytics.Build and refine predictive forecasting models using both quantitative and qualitative methods; track market drivers, apply economic concepts to forecasts and price mechanisms, and serve as the primary point of contact for U.S. gas market fundamentals on the trading floor.Monitor pipeline inflows and outflows from key regions and maintain associated regional balances.Maintain a strong understanding of trading desk business models and current positions to develop market views, trading recommendations, and price forecasts.Lead discussions with trading desks and senior management on forward views of the U.S. gas market.Collaborate with U.S. power teams and analysts in other regional offices to develop cross‑commodity and cross‑geography analytics and forecasts; work closely with quantitative analysts and data scientists to leverage advanced analytical techniques.Conduct ad hoc analyses and projects in support of traders and senior management.Prepare written reports for global TGP trading desks, senior management, Paris headquarters, affiliates, and market partners; create and update presentations on market‑related topics.Provide analytical support to Paris headquarters (Strategy, E&P, Business Development, etc.) on market‑related issues.Assist in the training and development of junior market analysts.
