We are looking to hire a Senior Staff Data Steward within the Fulfillment Resource Family pillar of Market 360—someone who brings deep functional and technical expertise in the Logistics and Supply Chain Resilience domain. This role will play a critical part in shaping and managing high-quality data assets that support global operations, improve supply chain visibility, and drive resilience across Bayer Crop Science.
The Senior Staff Data Steward role is pivotal in ensuring efficacy and integrity of data management within the Crop Science division. This position requires an understanding of domain expertise, characterized by a comprehensive knowledge of the functional details and data flow within the IT and business ecosystem. A key responsibility involves the ability to effectively map and design solutions, as well as translate complex technical terms into clear business concepts. This role demands a thorough grasp of data processes and the capacity to integrate these processes seamlessly into the business's operational framework. In their multifaceted role, Data Stewards are instrumental in bridging the gap between technical execution and business strategy, ensuring that data is not only technically sound and business driven, also drives value and innovation across Bayer. Data Stewards at Bayer are connectors, fostering vital relationships across a spectrum of roles and teams to ensure the seamless flow and integrity of data. Their collaborative efforts span Asset Engineers, Cross Functional IT and Business Stakeholders, Products and Platforms Teams, Enterprise IT, Data Scientists etc.
The Senior Staff Data Steward would need to have mastery over transportation management, International Trade & compliance, supply chain Resilience management. Data Stewards at Bayer are the cornerstone of our data ecosystem, embodying a blend of technical acumen and strategic foresight, with qualifications and competencies that are as diverse as they are deep. Desired qualities include: Profiling, Modeling, Driving Validations, Business goal refinements with data insights, translating and implementing compliance, legal and governance policies, collaborating across diverse technical and business teams, demonstrate continuous learning applicability etc.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of the Market 360 Senior Staff Data Steward, Logistics:
Collaborate with Capability Owners, GPOs, Regional and Global business teams, Product Managers, Product Owners, and other Business and IT stakeholders to capture and document detailed requirements and processes related to logistics, warehouse management, and supply chain resilience across regional and global operations.Provide leadership to design sessions with Stewards, Data Engineers, Engineering teams, Data Scientists, Product Managers, business and/or IT stakeholders, that result in design/technical and functional mapping/lead the foundational data deliverable build out (Data models/API’s/KAFKA etc) and business metadata capture.Mastery over SD/MM/WM modules, data structures, data flow in ERP. Expertise in technical integration patterns and data flows between ERP and third party systems such as TMS, FourKites, One-Network, EWM etc.Design and implement last-mile visibility data models to enable real-time tracking and insights across the supply chain organization.Drive the technical harmonization of data schemas and integration flows in support of process transformation from ECC to S/4HANA.Drive integration and harmonization of logistics-related data entities (e.g., shipment, transportation, warehouse management) across ERP and third-party systems during ECC to S/4 migration.Develop and harmonize data models across different SAP versions, integrating logistics and warehouse source systems, and design comprehensive models to support seamless data consistency and interoperability.Implement and utilize data solutions for profiling, data analysis, modeling, validation, cataloguing, quality assurance using a variety of tools.Design, evangelize, and lead frameworks and objectives for: Governance, Adhering to External and Internal Compliance Needs, Metadata Management, Data Quality, and Data Management Best PracticesSet strategy and drive implementation of automated data quality monitoring based on engagement with business stakeholders and technical partners.

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Over 10 years of relevant professional experience;Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Computer Science, Biological Sciences, Business Administration, Finance, Data Science, Database Administration, or a related field;Deep mastery of business/technical expertise across domains of Logistics, Supply Chain Resilience and Warehouse Management. (ECC & S/4, SD/EWM, TMS, FourKites etc);Functional and Technical Expertise in one or more related domains such as Order-to-Cash, Planning or Finance;Expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services with a strong focus on Google BigQuery for scalable, high-performance data warehousing and analytics;Proficient in querying both SQL and NoSQL databases to extract, manipulate, and analyze structured and unstructured data;Experience interfacing with data process, internal applications, & scripting tools.Conduct comprehensive data profiling across the SD/MM/WM modules/satellites/third party systems to assess data quality dimensions such as completeness, consistency, accuracy, and uniqueness.Utilize automated profiling tools and SQL queries to extract key metrics on master data and transactional data. Interpret data profiling outcomes and implement automated remediation workflows within Google BigQuery to enhance data quality and integrity.Assess enterprise data models across relevant domains and collaborate with the Enterprise Leadership Team to derive Crop Science (CS) requirements and deliver aligned CS data models in Google BigQuery.Produce comprehensive technical and functional documentation and interface with relevant teams for robust Data Assets build out.Coordinate and align programs and deliverables across multiple organizations to ensure cohesive execution.Hands-on experience with Agile development methodologies, continuous deployment, and DevOps practices.Solid understanding of modern data management principles and architectures.Knowledge of metadata management and data governance standards within the logistics domain, with the ability to apply these standards effectively during data processing and stewardship.Design and document strategic technical solutions to address complex business challenges.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Demonstrate mastery of source and downstream system architectures and designs, with expertise in developing detailed technical and functional data mappings.Mentored and guided junior team members while influencing cross-functional teams to drive best practices and collaboration.
Employees can expect to be paid a salary of between $114,000 - $171,000. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc.
This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
