**Job Description**
Included duties of the Competent Person II:
+ Ensures that all industrial activities work occurring in confined and enclosed spaces are safe by performing atmospheric testing and physical hazard assessments
+ Evaluates and tests various environments including but not limited to noise, illumination, atmospheric conditions (confined spaces), ensuring proper working environments are established and maintained
+ Ensures that conditions annotated on the Marine Chemist certificate are maintained as required.
+ Documents conditions on the daily Log of Inspection and Test(LOI)
+ Posts and updates the Competent Persons Record of Tests and Inspections with the conditions for entry and/or hot work.
+ Posts daily Competent Person (LOI) and Marine Chemist Certificate (if applicable) on the shipboard status board.
+ Performs daily calibration checks of gas detection test equipment.
+ Performs safety compliance inspections and documents findings.
**Required Education, Experience, & Skills**
+ Requires a High School diploma or GED or the overall equivalent
+ At least a month of related experience and/or training
+ Must be certified as a NFPA Competent Person
+ Computer skills to include the basics of Microsoft Office Suite including Excel and PowerPoint
+ Must be able to acquire and maintain a government access badge
+ Able to support overtime as required to include weekends and holidays
+ Must be able to work within a shipyard environment including crawl spaces, confined quarters, stairs, narrow passages, etc.
**Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills**
NFPA Competent Person for Maritime Confined Space certification
Minimum 3 months of experience in working as a Maritime Competent Person
Microsoft Office Suite
**Pay Information**
Full-Time Salary Range: $43285 - $69256
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
