Job Purpose
Responsible for overseeing marine engineering discipline and FEED/EPC contractor in delivery of all aspects of marine design to ensure technical objectives are met within the approved scope, budget, and schedule.
Ensures technical requirements such as project specifications, data sheets, procedures, etc. developed during FEED and EPC fully comply with project requirements.
Lead marine engineering, planning, and project execution from design to startup.
Manage and provide clear guidance to the FEED and EPC contractor and facilitate resolution of technical issues to complete marine engineering activities to meet project objectives and milestones.
Provide engineering surveillance on FEED and EPC marine-related deliverables.
Monitor discipline schedule and progress.
Job Context & Major Challenges
Position is Doha-based initially and then subsequently in Project Site Offices.
Requires high commitment and responsibility to ensure all technical activities associated with the marine engineering discipline, and all third parties such as vendors, consultants, subcontractors, etc. are executed to project specifications and requirements.
Involves technical evaluations, including risk-based evaluation of complex engineering issues, resolution of marine-related matters with significant project execution and/or commercial impact.
Major challenges include:
Developing a Ship Catalog for typical vessels used for export of LNG/LPG/Sulphur granules.
Guiding FEED and EPC contractor, vendors, subcontractors, and commissioning teams to produce timely deliverables.
Maintaining constructive working relationships with contractors and stakeholders to ensure alignment and execution.
Key Job Accountabilities
Demonstrate personal SHES leadership and excellent SHES behaviors at all times. Actively participate in Toolbox Talks, Task Instructions, and site safety walkthroughs.
Deliver high-quality marine expertise and ensure engineering activities comply with local regulatory requirements, codes, standards, and project specifications.
Resolve marine-related discipline issues timely to meet project expectations.
Ensure approved marine/design recommendations are utilized to improve design integrity and safety.
Steward contractor design and execution activities, verify adequacy of resources and personnel competency.
Coordinate and analyze discipline issues for resolution. Provide input to other disciplines and support commissioning and system completion activities.
Track and report requests from port authority related to berth area and dredging works.
Monitor contractor progress within the area of responsibility.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in sciences, marine disciplines, or engineering, or Diploma in marine or nautical disciplines, and STCW II/2, STCW III/2 Certification.Knowledge and/or Experience
8 years seagoing experience as a shipboard engineer or sea officer, including 1 year as Chief Engineer or Master. Knowledge of oil and gas industry bodies, national and international maritime and shipping regulations. Experienced in handling offshore marine units, berth design, seabed dredging, brownfield engineering, and marine-related studies/simulations. Experience in LNG and/or liquid product berths preferred. Experience with marine piles.Technical and Business Skills
Fluent in written and oral English. Strong analytical, organizational, coordination, and planning skills. Good communication and mediation skills. Familiar with marine-related software such as Optimoor. Deep knowledge of industry codes, standards, and practices. SHES-focused, team player, proactive, ethical, and confident. Committed to knowledge sharing and mentoring.
