Marine Electrician
**Marine Electrician - San Diego, CA (1st Shift)** **Job Description** + We are seeking a skilled Marine Electrician to join our engineering and technical services team specializing in advanced maritime systems. Our focus is on Hull, Mechanical & Electrical (HM&E) engineering, ship modernization, C5ISR systems integration, and full-cycle technical support for maritime customers. As a Marine Electrician, you will be responsible for diagnosing faults, maintaining and repairing electrical systems on marine vessels, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. **Responsibilities** + Diagnose faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs using standard electrical formulas and laws. + Understand and utilize computerized test equipment and calibration devices for electrical systems installation, replacement, or repair. + Adjust and maintain marine electrical equipment using multi-meters, meggers, ammeters, oscilloscopes, and other test equipment. + Repair or replace subassemblies such as motor controllers, motors, switches, outlets, junction boxes, and voltage regulators following industry standards. + Dismantle and reassemble motors, motor controllers, switches, and junction boxes. + Perform routine maintenance, clean, and lubricate electrical equipment. + Examine parts for damage or excessive wear using electrical test equipment. + Operate and inspect electrical machines or components to diagnose defects. + Repair, rewire, and troubleshoot electrical systems. + Schedule maintenance for industrial machines and equipment and maintain service records. + Research, order, and maintain parts inventory for services and repairs. + Test electrical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance. + Solder broken parts using soldering tools as necessary. + Adhere to technical documentation and recommend solutions when tolerances or conditions do not meet required dimensions. + Read, interpret, and understand blueprints, NAVSEA Standard Items, and technical manuals. + Test, manufacture, troubleshoot, repair, red-line drawings, and make design recommendations for electrical and electronic equipment. **Essential Skills** + 4-8+ years of marine electrical experience or E4-E7 Navy experience. + Knowledge of Navy AC (60 and 400 Hz) and DC electrical systems. + Ability to troubleshoot, disassemble, inspect, reassemble, and operationally test electrical components. + Proficiency with electrical measuring instruments like voltmeters, ammeters, ohmmeters, and megohmmeters. + Ability to read, interpret, and produce electrical diagrams and blueprints. + Familiarity with Navy tag-out, WAF procedures, and QWI documentation. + Strong OSHA safety and naval procedural compliance. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Experience with NAVSEA cableway and connectorization. + Certification is a plus. + Technical expertise with power generation and transmission equipment, and motorized valve actuators. + Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), fiber optics, and integrated network systems is preferred. + Ability to supervise junior personnel. **Why Work Here?** + Join a respected Federal Government Contractor supporting high-priority U.S. Navy missions and modernization programs. The role requires working in confined spaces, engine rooms, electrical spaces, and control rooms. PPE is required, and an industrial dress code applies. The standard workweek may include overtime driven by Navy availability. The environment fosters a collaborative team culture across engineering, maintenance, and modernization disciplines. Must be comfortable working around energized equipment and in high-noise areas. **Job Type & Location** This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, CA. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $33.00/hr.
