Manufacturing Support Engineer - Continuous Improvement

Basic Qualifications
•    Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
•    Previous experience with lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and 6S.
•    Familiarity with CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent).
•    Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.  Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
•    This position entails access to export controlled items and employment offers are conditioned upon an applicants ability to lawfully obtain access to such items.


Preferred Qualifications
•    Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Technology, Manufacturing Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering preferred.
•    Ability to interpret engineering drawings and bills of materials to support sourcing and quoting of manufactured details or purchased parts for projects and spare parts requests.
•    Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams.
•    Exposure to CNC programming and automation systems is a plus.
•    Experience training others and writing work instructions.
•    Proficiency with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
•    Reliable and goal oriented, with a positive attitude and self starter mindset.

Howmet Aerospace is seeking a Continuous Improvement & Manufacturing Support Engineer to join our Manufacturing Technology Group, at our Howmet Research Center in Whitehall, Michigan. This role is responsible for driving lean manufacturing, 6S, and continuous improvement initiatives across spare parts, coils, automation, and large equipment manufacturing.
 

The engineer will work closely with project and mechanical engineers to support ongoing equipment build projects, while taking ownership of the spare parts ordering process—including sourcing, quoting, processing purchase orders, tracking, and shipping parts to internal customers.

Key Responsibilities
•    Lead lean and continuous improvement projects across M-Tech operations.
•    Oversee spare parts ordering, including customer requests, quotes, purchase orders, tracking, and shipping.
•    Collaborate with engineers to ensure timely parts availability for multiple projects.
•    Provide support with CAD (2D/3D modeling in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent).
•    Train team members and develop clear work instructions to ensure process consistency.
