Manufacturing Supervisor

The Position

The individual in this role will be a hands-on front-line people leader, accountable for leading and developing teams in support of a fast-paced operation to deliver diagnostic products and ensure continuous quality, schedule adherence and efficient production. You will be a member of the Operations Extended Leadership Team (eLT), interfacing with other eLT members to deliver on goals and/or collaborate to drive business strategy. You will operate per internal and external quality and safety requirements and work with area leadership to evaluate production process data and drive continuous improvement cross functionally to achieve operational KPIs.

The Opportunity

People Leadership/Development (35%)

Leads and empowers direct reports or teams; provides coaching, training and opportunities to develop skills, and gives ongoing, constructive and timely feedback on performance and progress toward goals and expectations.

Maintains visibility and presence in the manufacturing area.

Manages team’s time and attendance per company policy. 

Ensures team members operate within the guidelines of corporate policies.

Optimizes staffing and conducts workforce planning to match current and future production demands.

Coordinates with process lead for resource management.

Hires, onboards and trains new team members.

Learns and applies Visionary, Architect, Catalyst and Coaching (VACC) principles for team leadership and development.

Production (25%)

Maintains a thorough understanding of end-to-end production processes.

Responsible for production factory adherence.

Identifies scheduling conflicts, production issues and equipment maintenance needs and collaborates with support functions for resolution.

Participates as a stakeholder in project-based activities (e.g. new product transfers, inventory reduction, scale up) to support departmental and company goals.

Accountable for reporting daily metrics.

Sets daily, weekly and monthly goals and aligns deliverables for shifts and processes.

Reports out misses to daily, weekly and monthly goals and implements corrective actions.

 Safety and Quality (20%)

Operates with a safety and quality mindset.

Addresses and escalates any potentially unsafe hazards; reports and investigates safety hazards, incidents and near misses in a timely manner.

Ensures production area maintains right to operate and participates in internal and external quality and safety audits.

Ensures all area personnel maintain training compliance.

Maintains current process information and documentation per internal and external guidelines.

Leads quality failure, root cause and corrective action investigations with other departments.

Continuous Improvement (10%)

Creates a lean culture by empowering the workforce to provide and implement ideas to continuously improve and reduce waste.

Acts as a change agent and drives a culture of continuous improvement by actively demonstrating the use of lean manufacturing tools in everything the team does.

Accountable for the manufacturing area’s continuous improvement and lean initiatives. 

Prepares presentations and reports to implement process improvements.

Collects data and trends and evaluates metrics (e.g. safety, quality, cost, delivery, people) to support Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

Utilizes metrics to recommend manufacturing initiatives and improvement projects.  

Hosts, facilitates and leads continuous improvement activities.  

Teamwork and Collaboration (10%)

Proactively collaborates with peers in other shifts/functions.

Collaborates with support functions to drive value stream, lean manufacturing improvement and global projects/ initiatives.

Facilitates and/or participates in tier and staff meetings.

Who You Are

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree

4 years of relevant experience in production, manufacturing, supply chain or related field, of which 2 years include processes, people or project leader experience (required). 

Knowledge Skills and Abilities :

Demonstrated ability to develop and lead a high-performing team.

Ability to influence all levels of staff and management.

Experience working in a regulated environment.

Proven skills and experience with process improvement.

Proficient written, verbal communication and presentation skills.

Strong team leadership abilities according to VACC principles.

Demonstrated ability to make data-driven decisions. 

Critical thinking, problem solving and a can-do attitude are required.

Strong partnering and collaboration skills to work cross-functionally.

Ability to interact with all levels of the organization.

Situational assessment and decision-making skills.

Proficiency with electronic manufacturing systems such as SAP or similar and Google products (gMail, gSheets, gDoc, gSlides, etc.).

Basic grasp of applicable financial concepts, metrics and budget planning.

Locations

This is an onsite position in Marana, Arizona.  Relocation benefits are not available for this position.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Tucson, Arizona is between  $73,600.00 - $136,600.00 USD Annual.  Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.  A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance.  This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
