As a Materials Specialist, you will primarily work in a metallurgical laboratory and mechanical testing facility. As well as this, you will undertake desk-based assessments of equipment. You will use the findings from these works to solve client problems and guide them towards better equipment management.

As a [Manufacturing Specialist - Materials Management], you will be responsible for:

Inventory Optimization & Strategy

Lead initiatives to optimize inventory levels while maintaining high service levels across regions Analyze inventory trends (DSOH, turns, aging) and develop actionable plans to improve performance Drive reduction of slow-moving and excess inventory through structured programs Monitor levels of safety stock, global and aging inventory, and works with regions and manufacturing plants to address accordinglyProvide updates to inventory projections and creates mitigation plans as neededWork with Supply Planners to implement stocking strategies for local providersWork with Regions to phase in new product inventory and develop plans for effectively managing replaced inventory

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Partner with Supply Planners, Demand Planners, and Regional Operations teams to align inventory strategies with business needs Act as a key liaison between global and regional stakeholders to ensure consistent execution Support S&OP / IBP processes with inventory insights and recommendations 

Slow-Moving & Excess Inventory Management

Identify slow-moving, obsolete, and excess inventory and implement disposition strategies Lead inventory rebalancing efforts across regions to maximize utilization Develop and track KPIs related to aging inventory and excess reduction 

Utilization & Material Efficiency

Drive initiatives to improve inventory utilization across business units Recommend redeployment, repair, or repurposing strategies to enhance value Monitor and improve stocking policies based on demand variability and lead times 

Data Analytics & Reporting

Develop dashboards and reports to track inventory health and performance Provide insights and recommendations to leadership Leverage ERP and planning systems for data-driven decision making 

Continuous Improvement

Identify process gaps and implement improvements in inventory management practices Support digital transformation initiatives and automation of inventory processes Apply Lean / Six Sigma methodologies to drive efficiency

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field Minimum 5+ years of experience in inventory management, supply planning, or supply chain operations Proven experience working with global/regional teams and cross-functional stakeholdersStrong background in managing slow-moving, excess, and obsolete inventory Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred) and advanced Excel / analytics tools Certifications such as APICS CSCP or CPIM are a plus

Preferred Attributes

Experience in Oil & Gas or industrial manufacturing environments Familiarity with S&OP / IBP processes Exposure to inventory optimization tools and digital supply chain solutions Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher) preferred
