Description We are looking for a Manufacturing/Production Planner to join our team in Rancho Dominguez, California. This role is a Contract-to-permanent position within the paper and packaging industry, focusing on optimizing production schedules and ensuring seamless operations across multiple work centers. The ideal candidate will excel in balancing demand, capacity, and material availability while driving continuous improvement efforts.
Responsibilities:
• Develop and manage production schedules that align with sales forecasts, order priorities, and delivery commitments.
• Adjust schedules dynamically to accommodate urgent orders, engineering changes, or shifts in production capacity.
• Monitor labor and machine utilization, recommending adjustments such as cross-training, overtime, or additional shifts to meet operational needs.
• Collaborate with procurement and warehouse teams to ensure materials and components are available to prevent production delays.
• Reconcile open sales orders with production schedules, identifying risks and implementing recovery plans to ensure timely delivery.
• Maintain dashboards tracking key metrics such as on-time delivery, inventory coverage, and capacity utilization.
• Analyze performance data to identify trends, root causes, and opportunities for process improvements.
• Create and update shop-floor work instructions and workflows to enhance efficiency and reduce setup times.
• Lead planning meetings and communicate schedule updates to cross-functional teams, including sales, logistics, and quality.
• Support new product launches and engineering change implementations by coordinating schedule adjustments and resource planning. Requirements
+ Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Supply‑Chain, Business, or related field – or equivalent experience.
+ 3+ years in production planning within a high‑volume environment (≥1,000 SKUs).
+ Technical Skills: Advanced Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, XLOOKUP, Power Query, capacity models, dashboards).
+ Proficient with ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Oracle, Epicor, NetSuite, or similar).
+ Comfortable building real‑time planning dashboards and presenting data insights.
+ Strong analytical and problem‑solving ability; meticulous attention to detail.
+ Proven track record managing dynamic lead times and aligning capacity/labor plans.
+ Excellent communication and cross‑functional leadership in fast‑paced settings.
+ Working knowledge of lean manufacturing, standard work, and continuous‑improvement tools
