Working as part of our Microbiology Division (MBD), within the Specialty Diagnostics Group, you’ll play an active part in helping us to achieve our mission to enable our customers to make the world healthier, cleaner and safer. The Microbiology Division discovers microbiological solutions for the diagnosis of infectious disease and detection of bacterial contamination. We serve public health, clinical laboratories, food companies, environmental screening and pharmaceutical laboratories with a portfolio of products that include culture media, antimicrobial susceptibility testing solutions and market-leading molecular solutions for food safety testing.
Position Summary:
The Manufacturing Planner plays a key role in supporting production planning and execution at the Dartford site, ensuring that manufacturing plans are aligned to demand, capacity, and material availability. This role is responsible for creating, maintaining, and executing short- to mid-term production plans for assigned product families, working closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Order Management teams to deliver high service levels, controlled inventory, and stable production execution. The role operates within established planning processes and standards, with clear escalation pathways for risks impacting supply, service, or compliance.
Responsibilities:
Production & Supply Planning
Create and maintain production plans and schedules for assigned product families in line with demand forecasts and capacity constraints.Convert demand signals into planned and process orders in SAP, ensuring timely release to production.Monitor execution versus plan and support corrective actions to minimize backorders, delays, and schedule instability.Support master data accuracy (lead times, lot sizes, safety stock) by identifying exceptions and escalating for correction.Capacity & Execution Support
Support weekly capacity and execution reviews, highlighting risks and constraints impacting plan adherence.Track production schedule adherence and attainment, identifying root causes for variances.Act as an early-warning point for supply risks, escalating issues related to capacity, materials, or quality.Inventory & Service Performance
Support inventory management by planning within agreed inventory policies and entitlement targets.Contribute to actions to reduce excess and obsolete (E&O) risk, including plan adjustments and rebalancing.Support service level improvement through stable planning and proactive issue identification.Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Procurement, Customer Care, and Supply Planning teams to ensure aligned execution.Prepare and maintain planning data for tiered meetings, supply reviews, and operational forums.Support continuous improvement initiatives within planning processes.Compliance & Standard Work
Ensure all planning activities comply with health & safety, quality, regulatory, and GMP requirements.Follow and execute standard work for manufacturing planning.Actively participate in Practical Process Improvement (PPI) initiatives.Experience, skills & abilities required:
