Manufacturing Operations Trainer

The Manufacturing Operations Trainer is responsible for developing, delivering, and maintaining training programs that ensure employees in manufacturing operations are fully equipped with the skills, knowledge, and certifications needed to perform their jobs safely and effectively. This role oversees facility-wide training activities, ensures compliance with training documentation and standards, partners with local technical schools to build a pipeline of skilled welders and sheet metal fabricators, and assists with tracking and reporting key training and performance metrics. The ideal candidate has strong communication and organizational skills, hands-on experience with training in a manufacturing environment, and proficiency with training documentation systems, SAP, Quickbase, and Microsoft Office tools. **Training & Development** + Design, deliver, and evaluate training programs for welders, sheet metal fabricators, and other manufacturing roles. + Conduct onboarding training for new employees and refresher training for current employees. + Maintain up-to-date training materials, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and certification records. + Ensure all training complies with company policies, industry standards, and safety regulations. + Develop cross-training programs to build workforce flexibility. **Compliance & Documentation** + Track and document all training activities to meet internal and external compliance requirements. + Maintain accurate training records in SAP, Quickbase, and other designated systems. + Audit training files regularly to ensure documentation accuracy and readiness for inspections. **Partnerships & Workforce Development** + Partner with local technical schools, trade programs, and community organizations to develop pipelines for welders, sheet metal fabricators, and other skilled positions. + Coordinate internship, apprenticeship, and co-op programs to attract and develop future talent. + Represent the company at school advisory boards, career fairs, and technical education events. **Metrics & Reporting** + Assist in tracking training metrics, such as employee certification rates, skill progression, and cross-training coverage. + Analyze training data to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement. + Provide regular training performance reports to leadership. **Required Skills & Qualifications:** + Proven experience in training, workforce development, or manufacturing supervision. + Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, especially welding and sheet metal fabrication. + Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook). + Experience using SAP and Quickbase for training or production documentation. + Excellent communication, facilitation, and presentation skills. + Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and documentation accuracy. + Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external partners. **Minimum Qualifications:** + Associates degree in related field or equivalent experience + 2 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment + 1 year experience preparing and delivering classroom and hands on training **Preferred Qualifications** + Bachelor’s degree in Training & Development, Education, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience). + Certified trainer, instructional designer, or workforce development certification. + Previous experience coordinating partnerships with technical schools or apprenticeship programs. **Work Environment** + Primarily on-site within a manufacturing facility. + Regular interaction with production floor employees, supervisors, and external school partners. + Requires ability to deliver both classroom and hands-on training. **Physical Demands** : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 - 50 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus.
