Siemens Healthineers MR Magnet Technology is the world’s leading designer and manufacturer of superconducting magnets for magnetic resonance imaging – over a third of MRI scanners installed worldwide have at their heart a magnet manufactured in our Eynsham factory. As a Manufacturing Manager, as part of an overall manufacturing/production team of more than 300 people, you'll be responsible for providing day to day management and guidance to a team of 60 via 4 direct reports, ensuring performance and output targets relating to quality, safety and cost are consistently met. Key to delivering this will be your ability to manage both labour planning and resource strategies. You'll be expected to drive year on year productivity improvements and will play a lead role in continuous improvement activity for your specific area, as well as supporting manufacturing as a whole. You'll be a conscious leader, someone who listens to feedback from your team and ensures they have a voice. As we continue planning for the opening of our brand new facility in Bicester, you'll support the development of the transition strategy, defining criteria for selection and balancing the split of skills across new and existing operations. Due to the nature of the work involved, this is a fully site-based role.
Responsibilities:
To comply with, and support the Health, Safety & Environmental policies and procedures. Ensuring that all H&S audits are carried out accordingly. To investigate any EHS incidents professionally to the required standard.Deploy the Business Strategy, Implementation and Communication He/she shall act as first point of contact for issues and shall seek resolution by using the skills and resources of their team and minimising the need for further escalation. Provide clear direction and act as Inspirational Leader and coach to the manufacturing unit.Working with support functions, he/she shall ensure that the customer needs are met with an emphasis on meeting the customer’s expectations. He/she shall implement schedules, methods and processes, allocate manpower and resources. To actively support and drive Continuous Improvement and a structured problem solving culture Identify opportunities for business improvement through the analysis of the current operational performance using the relevant Key Performance Indicators. Maintain highly visual Manufacturing, deploying state of the art manufacturing philosophies. Motivate and continuously develop the team, comprising Cell Leaders and Lead Technicians.Ensure all manufacturing activities are resourced and managed appropriately including the introduction of new products and processes.Ownership, definition and control of the Operational budgets and costs.Achieving business and departmental objectives. e.g., quality, productivity, output.The development of people and the performance of the team including training, coaching and performance management.To ensure that clear team objectives are set and their performance reviewed on a regular basis.Establish regular departmental performance reviews with the Cell Leader and Lead Technicians.Prepare the cost centre budget proposal and manage expenditures against budget.The application of HPS methods is expected where applicable.
Skills & Experience:
Proven experience in a similar manufacturing environment, proven leadership skills, a highly efficient organiser and motivatorAn excellent facilitator who communicates effectively with all levels within the organisation and external parties such as customers.Experience in managing manufacturing processes within a technical production environment. You will need to possess a positive attitude and display the ability to identify solutions to problems.Proven knowledge and use of Lean and Business Improvement Techniques and be self-motivated and capable of motivating your team members to meet the Team and business objectives. Minimum of GCSE grade C or equivalent in English, Maths and Sciences required evidence of qualifications in Lean or 6σ application desirable. A business or Engineering qualification to degree level is desirable IT skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel and Powerpoint) required.
