Caterpillar is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Manager in Sanford, NC. In this role, you will lead the Manufacturing Engineering team supporting Compact Track Loader assembly. You will also serve as a strategic leader and subject matter expert, driving cross-functional collaboration and innovation across the end-to-end value stream. You will be responsible for leading a diverse and high performing team that will develop and execute advanced assembly strategies that align with organizational goals and deliver measurable improvements in safety, quality, availability, and cost.

In this role, you will:

Lead a diverse and high performing team to design and deploy processes to safely assemble, test, and ship Compact Track Loader’s.  Collaborate with key facility stakeholders to deploy Caterpillar’s Safety Driven strategy.Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance assembly efficiency, reduce waste, and support lean manufacturing principles.Lead cross-functional collaboration to define & implement cost-effective assembly strategies.Lead development and maintenance of standard work, detailed routings, value stream maps, control plans, PFMEAs, and SFMEAs, ensuring alignment with enterprise-wide assembly and quality standards.Align assets and supporting infrastructure, with long-term business goals.Ensure availability of critical tools & equipment for uninterrupted operations.Provide strategic leadership to Manufacturing Engineering staff, including coaching, mentoring, and performance management to build and maintain a high-performing team.Champion complex projects to deliver cost savings, operational excellence, and high customer satisfaction.

A successful candidate in this role will showcase their skills:

Capacity Planning & Management - MFG: Knowledge of tools, approaches and practices for determining production demand and ability to manage resources needed to provide satisfactory levels of service.Lean Manufacturing: Knowledge of the philosophy, principles and implementation approaches of lean manufacturing; ability to integrate and implement lean manufacturing philosophy into existing production and management processes.Manufacturing Standards, Procedures and Policies: Knowledge of organizational standards, procedures and policies in manufacturing activities; ability to plan, guide, and monitor manufacturing processes for compliance.

 

Top Candidates for this position may also have:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or relevant technical discipline.Prior supervisory experience.Demonstrated knowledge of principles and techniques used in lean manufacturing, quality management systems, torque control, and manufacturing execution systems.Highly proficient in Microsoft Office/Office 365 tools.Progressive experience in Engineering, Manufacturing, or Supply Chain assignments.Significant prior supervisory experience in a high-velocity manufacturing environment.Demonstrated ability to align team performance with business goals.Proven track record of leading large-scale transformation initiatives.Cross-functional experience in an Engineering, Purchasing, Fabrications, Logistics, Quality, or Manufacturing environment.Master’s degree in engineering, business, or relevant technical discipline.Project Management Institute certification as a Project Management Professional or ASCM certification as a CPIM or CSCP.

The primary location for this position is Sanford, NC.

Summary Pay Range:

$126,000.00 - $189,000.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
