Northrop Grumman is currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineer – Level 2 to join our Strategic Space Systems - National Space Systems team in Azusa, CA . Designs manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling.  Designs arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout. Designs sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance. Adapts machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions. May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan. Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality. Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control, and may develop those techniques. Provides guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques. Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Provide guidance to Engineering on design concepts to ensure optimal manufacturing techniques for cable/wire harnesses.Participate in design reviews to ensure feasibility, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.Define and document the sequence of operations for cable/wire harness assembly.Investigate non-conformance issues and initiate corrective actions and improvements.Identify and implement improvement opportunities to enhance producibility and drive affordability.Interpret drawings, part lists and specifications to support cable/wire harness Manufacturing technicians.Write detailed work instructions to improve production workflow efficiency.Assist in training employees in new and existing manufacturing processes.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in STEM 2 years of experience (hands-on experience in cable/harness manufacturing) or 0 years of experience with a Master Degree STEM.Familiarity with process flows, manufacturing principles, and production operations, focusing on Cable/Wire Harness Products.

Preferred Qualifications:

Basic Knowledge of Cable/Harness Processes, NASA 8739.4 or IPC WHMA-A-620 Workmanship StandardsBasic Knowledge of SAP or Solumina Manufacturing Execution System (MES)Basic Knowledge of Production Metrics (Tableau or Power BI Dashboards)Basic Knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management (Teamcenter/PDMS, Enovia or Windchill)

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
