Manufacturing Engineer I

Job Summary:

This role supports manufacturing functions for Commercial HVAC products at Trane’s Fort Smith, Arkansas facility. The Manufacturing Engineer I will assist with complex technical issues and finding rapid solutions. They will support lean activities and process improvements through the planning, facilitation, and implementation of projects in alignment with strategic goals and metrics for plant safety, quality, delivery, and productivity. The Manufacturing Engineer I is also responsible for the implementation and validation of new equipment and processes throughout the business to improve plant performance using advanced engineering techniques such as DFM / DFA (Design for Manufacturability and Assembly), FMEA, 3P (Production, Preparation Process), 7-Ways, and Lean Six Sigma Methodology

Responsibilities:

Project Capital planning, Business Case creationAssists in managing 5-Gate projects including Business Case, Capital, Expense, and resources to assure milestones are met timely and within the approved budget and resource planDrives productivity and business growth through problem solving, coaching, and trainingConduct tests or trials of tools, equipment, and processesCreate and update Standard Work Charts, JBSs, Work Instructions, PFMEAsEvaluate production capacitiesApply knowledge of engineering principles and practices on safety and ergonomic improvements.Lead problem solving projects to support the shop floor and develop new or improved tools and processes (workstation design, material presentation, etc.)Create reports and presentations to update stakeholders and management on project status and progressTrack and report productivity impacts of projectsCoordinates with resources throughout the larger organization to achieve strategic goals and participate in a cooperative effort to support the company’s goalGeneral duties to work with the operations team driving root cause and corrective actions for issues pertaining to safety, quality, and customer delivery driving the implementation – Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering fundamentals.

       Ability to be a group leader of cross-functional teamsAbility to work with widely varying personalitiesExtensive computer skills: Microsoft office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)Capable of analyzing data in order to make data driven conclusions and decisions 3D Modeling and design (Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD)Ability to create drawings in compliance with ANSI/ASME Y14.5Ability to conduct various types of structural analysis using by-hand and computer assisted methodsExtensive understanding and ability to utilize engineering principles to support the development of robust manufacturing processesFundamental understanding of electrical power       Fundamental understanding industrial automation and controls systems

Qualifications:

Manufacturing Engineering internship within a manufacturing environmentBachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or other Engineering field required (offer may be contingent upon graduation within 6 monthsExperience with Automation, robotics, and mechanical controls related projectsSome travel (approximately 10%) may be required

Compensation:    

Base Pay Range: $ 65,000-$75,000
