Location: Near Heathrow Airport, West London
Seeking a highly skilled and motivated Manufacturing Engineer to join my aerospace engineering client in their Plating Lab team, close to Heathrow Airport.
You will be support and optimise shop floor operations within the plating area, taking ownership of process documentation, continuous improvement, and cross-functional projects that enhance quality, efficiency, and compliance.
You’ll work closely with Operations, Tooling, Maintenance, and Supply Chain teams to resolve production issues, improve workflows, and implement new methods that ensure our manufacturing processes are safe, efficient, and robust.
This role offers the opportunity to lead meaningful change, leverage Lean methodologies, and directly contribute to the performance and reliability of aerospace components.
Main Responsibilities:
Develop, review, and update manufacturing work instructions, tooling documentation, and inspection regimes Lead cross-functional process improvement projects from concept to completion Investigate and introduce new methods, layouts, and processes to improve throughput and compliance Conduct root cause analysis and deliver sustainable corrective actions for production issues Analyse production performance data (e.g. cycle times, downtime, OEE) and provide improvement recommendations Drive Lean Manufacturing initiatives using tools such as DMAIC, 5 Whys, and Pareto analysis Support and enhance equipment maintenance programs to ensure readiness and reliability Manage tooling and equipment master data within the SAP system Carry out time and motion studies, line balancing, and capacity analysis Collaborate closely with production staff to ensure accurate implementation of engineering changes Champion a culture of continuous improvement within the Plating LabIdeal Candidate Profile:
Ongoing right to work within the UK without any restrictions. No sponsorships can be provided, now or in the future. 3-5 years’ experience in manufacturing or process engineering within a production environment Minimum HND in a mechanical discipline Proficient in CAD (SolidWorks preferred) Training in Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, or Statistical Process Control (SPC) desirable Proven record of leading process improvement projects using Lean tools Strong knowledge of metal processing and surface finishing for aerospace components Skilled in structured problem solving (8D, 5 Whys) Experience with ERP/MRP systems (SAP), MS Office, and data analysis tools Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings and applying metrology principles Demonstrated success in driving data-driven decisions and implementing automation solutions Strong understanding of aerospace manufacturing standards and compliance Analytical, innovative, and detail-oriented Excellent communication and collaboration skills across functions Strong project management and organisational abilities Self-motivated and proactive, with ownership ofAdditional Information & Benefits:
