Manufacturing Engineer
Insight Global
Job Description
Responsible for the manufacturing processes of sub-assemblies and finished product in a designated manufacturing area, with a strong focus on CNC machining (mills and lathes). This role drives safety, cost, quality, and delivery performance; manages continuous improvement projects; and determines root cause of production issues.
Essential Functions:
• Review and analyze safety, operational, quality, and maintenance reports to identify areas for improvement.
• Evaluate equipment performance and identify opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency, cost, and safety.
• Develop and maintain Manufacturing Process Flow Diagrams and PFMEA plans.
• Create and maintain manufacturing process documentation (e.g., work instructions, training guidelines, setup sheets, CNC programs, tooling lists).
• Implement lean manufacturing practices: 5S, Kanban, poka‑yoke, visual management, single‑piece flow.
• Utilize structured problem‑solving tools: A3, 5 Why, 8D, Ishikawa/Fishbone, PDCA, Six Sigma DMAIC, Shainin.
• Work within cross‑functional teams (Quality, Maintenance, Supply Chain, Design Engineering) to support all aspects of manufacturing.
• Support plant‑wide commitment to meet applicable standards (e.g., IATF 16949, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, VDA; familiarity with ITAR where applicable).
• Analyze product variation and implement process capability improvements (Cp/Cpk, SPC).
• Drive machining process optimization: cycle time reduction, tool selection, fixture design, program efficiency, and scrap reduction.
