Manufacturing Engineer
Job Title: Manufacturing EngineerJob Description

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for launching new products following established launch procedures, quoting estimates for new products, and managing all activities related to assigned machining processes. This includes equipment justification and purchase, CNC programming, automation design, project management, and process documentation. You will play a crucial role in improving uptime and reducing scrap through Lean Manufacturing techniques and implementing change requests. Additionally, you will support launch teams in developing APQP documents and ensure processes are stable and meet customer quality and productivity requirements.

ResponsibilitiesLaunch new products following established procedures.Quote estimates for new products.Manage all activities related to assigned machining processes.Justify and purchase new equipment.Conduct CNC programming and automation design for machining cells.Oversee project management and perishable tooling design.Document processes and recommend preventive maintenance.Improve uptime and reduce scrap through Lean Manufacturing techniques.Implement change requests as necessary to support customer or internal changes.Follow all relevant procedures and standards.Support launch teams in developing APQP documents such as inspection sheets, process flow, PFMEA, and control plans.Ensure processes meet customer requirements in productivity and quality performance.Work with outside vendors to procure machinery or tooling.
Essential SkillsCNC Machining experienceGD&T proficiencyTooling & Fixture designBasic CNC Programming experienceExperience with Solidworks or AutoCAD for designing tooling & fixturesExperience working externally with suppliers for tooling & fixturingExperience in quoting and estimating projects, including cell layout, cutting tools, and machining/cycle times
Additional Skills & QualificationsBS in manufacturing engineering or similar degreeThree years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environmentBasic Microsoft Office skills with the ability to learn new software quicklyCAD-CAM experience (Auto-CAD, Solidworks/Spinfire, MasterCam)Excellent understanding of GD&TProficient in Tooling, Multi-Axis Machining, Turning and Machining Centers, Vertical and Horizontal CNCs, Fixturing DesignAccurate estimating cycle times for quoting purposesProblem-solving and project management skillsExperience with high-volume machining and robotics
Work Environment

This role is based at the Sun Prairie location, which employs 133 staff members, with a total of 410 employees across Madison North & South plants and Richmond, IN. Sun Prairie focuses on 50% die cast and 50% machining. The North & South locations primarily host Process & Quality Engineers, supporting Kohler, Harley & ZF, with no machining activities. The engineering team includes Automation Engineers reporting to the Maintenance Manager, with this role reporting directly to the Plant Manager. You will work alongside two other experienced machining engineers and a Quality Engineer. CNC Machine Support Techs are also part of the team. The company is investing in future growth, aiming to merge Madison locations with Sun Prairie, which will become the flagship HQ. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Madison, Wisconsin.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $100000.00/hr.
