Position Summary:
This position requires an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to work within a die casting facility. Reporting directly to the Senior Manufacturing Engineer, the Manufacturing Engineer is required to work to set tasks and projects and achieve deliverables in line with defined deadlines whilst also supporting operational activities and improvements as required.
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible to employ lean manufacturing principles to optimise effectiveness of our manufacturing operations to assure competitive pricing and develop concepts that include specification of equipment and make recommendations for the technical selection of purchased equipment.
Role Responsibilities:
Technical lead for site capital and tooling
Prepare and update equipment Statement of Requirement (SORs) and technical comparisons.
Collaborate with SMEs to develop SORs
Maintain list of equipment suppliers with Purchasing Dep’t.
Identify new suppliers and verify capabilities
Summarise equipment and installation costs for quoting new business and proposed engineering changes
Standardise components to minimise spare parts inventory costs
Lead the CapEx based on purchasing of equipment and facilitate timing and budget
Lead Machine FMEA for major equipment and identify CI and Lean practices leading to RPN scoring reduction
Ensure conformity to IATF16949
Apply existing experience across CNC, Assembly, automation and Heat Treatment technologies.
Management of on-site contractors during capital/tooling installation and close out of FAT.
Lead and drive close out of PAT/FAT items
Understanding of SPC tools and techniques (Gauge R&R, 6Sigma, GD&T)
Employ Lean Manufacturing Methods
Utilise work methods and instructions
Support equipment layout to optimise product flow and minimise unnecessary movement (VSM)
Utilise Lean Manufacturing methods and efficient product flow.
Develop pre-production packaging solutions for WIP and Finished Goods
Lead and train the implementation of Industrial Engineering methodologies around Assembly, automation and CNC technologies.
Implement, train and validate Standardised Work processes and associated documentation in line with Magna Factory Standard.
Drive and coach cross-functional team through Root Cause Analysis activities (8D, 5Y, Ishikawa)
Provide engineering solutions to production related escalations, implement and train where necessary.
Lead production based CI activities considering existing Lessons Learnt, best practice and read-across in order to improve capital OEE and output.
Create Engineering reports based off CI activities for best practice sharing across Group and Global network.
Project Manage equipment suppliers, build, installation and acceptance
Support equipment project timelines. Provide timely review and feedback to supplier
Manage on time delivery to budget and expected quality
Support the equipment drawing review and approval process with supplier, including internal cross functional teams. Review equipment drawings with SMEs and approve/reject based on review with cross functional teams assigning defined actions.
Support and document equipment run-off at suppliers prior to shipment
Support and document equipment run-off on-site at CCUK Final Acceptance Complete (FAC).
Review, improve and standardise existing buy off criteria around current and new capital.
Other Responsibilities
Knows and understands process documentation and customer specific requirements as they relate to the program and/or equipment.
Is aware of relevant ISO and BS standards in relation to customer specific requirements.
Prepare and present material for program review meetings
Lead and coordinate with Department Leaders in preparation of RFQs and proposals, statement of work and specifications and execution of contract requirements.
Uphold the company Fair Enterprise and Employee Charter principles
Performs other duties as required.
Make decisions based off existing system data. Identify opportunities for improvement and growth of data capturing systems.

Essential Experience:
Higher education qualification in Engineering related discipline
Experience with PFMEA/Control plan management
In-depth understanding of Lean Manufacturing methodologies and how to apply them in practice (standardised work, poka yoke,
Experience in automotive manufacturing environment
Desirable Experience:
Experience working within Die Casting environment, preferably die casting/stamping tooling background
Project management experience
Capital delivery experience (PAT/FAT)
