Manufacturing Engineer

Job Summary:

Manufacturing Engineer (Troy, MI or other unanticipated locations throughout U.S.). Engineering for Interior trim systems - IP, Console, Dash Panel, Trim Panels, Headliner, Pillars, Seats and other sub systems. Deliver Manufacturing advance feasibility studies, Quality operating System requirements for Interior Systems.  Collaborate with Product Development team, Plant team, NMPL, New model program study leads to generate facility equipment & tooling, improve quality, cycle time and reduce labor requirements.  Use virtual tools to evaluate the feasibility of new model designs for assembly operations.  Confirm all product designs adhere to FAE standard global manufacturing requirements.  Evaluate Significant and Critical Characteristics established by Product Engineers and develop Failure Mode Avoidance plan/documentation for New Model Programs.  Write/modify/maintain process sheets and deliver updated Cycle Line Layouts during development of manufacturing process lead identification, resolution, and closure of Final Assembly Engineering (FAE) feasibility issues; Review "Lessons Learned" from New Model launches and implement Prevent Reoccurrence Actions into future programs; Collaborate with multi-functional groups (Program Implementation Teams, Product Development, Supplier Technical Assistance, Material Planning & Logistics, New Model Programs.  

Education/Experience Required:

Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field.  Must have one year of experience as a Manufacturing Engineer or related position in automotive engineering.  Must have one year of experience in DFM and DFA, DFEMA, PFEMA, 3DX, Autoform, Catia V5, GD&T, product design, Automation tooling design and development, and tooling procurement.  Telecommuting permitted, work may occur anywhere in the U.S.  40 hrs/wk.  8:00 am – 5:00 pm.
