Job Description
As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will perform CNC capability studies on new Power unit Machining programs on site. You will utilize your knowledge of machining processes, particularly steel and iron metal cutting and grinding, to deliver efficient and optimized processes in terms of quality, costs, timing, and footprint. You will lead equipment installations, manage power-on operations, run capabilities, and oversee equipment handover to powertrain plants.
ResponsibilitiesPerform CNC capability studies on new Power unit Machining program on site.Utilize machining process knowledge, particularly steel and iron metal cutting and grinding.Lead equipment installation, power on, run capability, and equipment handover to the powertrain plants.Initiate bids, evaluate, recap bids for equipment purchase; work with Purchasing to write and place orders.Work with OEMs, suppliers, Product, and Plant engineering teams to resolve engineering and program delivery issues.Interface and coordinate project-related items such as facilities, safety, ergonomics, material handling & kitting, tooling, and gauging.Support Simultaneous Engineering discussion with equipment OEMs.Provide onsite support of MIDAS, Protag, and DCP launch tasks.Ensure supplier processes for externally purchased components are aligned with internal requirements.Initiate and Support Simulation Strategy to verify program assumptions for capacity and lead actions to optimize the process and facilitate continuous improvements.Verify Factory Information Systems (FIS).Coordinate MTO support plan with component suppliers to fulfill acceptance requirements for vendor and in-plant runoff/equipment acceptance and process capability.Apply Global Early Sourcing Work Plan (GESWP) for tooling and gauging equipment and identify any exceptions to the ESWP for replicating existing technologies.QC/layout inspection for new applications that replicate existing technologies.Support launch of all tool management systems into existing operations.Essential SkillsUnderstanding of machining processes, including CNC programming and operations.Experience working with tooling suppliers, buyoff and commissioning of machining tooling.Knowledge of powertrain components, gears, engines, transmissions, and washing.Proficiency in CAD/CAM software - AutoCAD.Ability to design, analyze, and optimize production processes.Additional Skills & QualificationsKnowledge of tooling design and facilities development.Innovative thinking to improve productivity and reduce waste.Work Environment
This role involves working closely with OEMs, suppliers, and engineering teams in a dynamic environment. You will have access to advanced technologies and software, including CAD/CAM systems. The position may require onsite support and coordination of various project-related items, ensuring a seamless and efficient workflow. Dress code is professional attire suitable for engineering environments.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $60.00/hr.
