Job Description SummaryRole summary

Due to continued expansion, we are looking for an experienced Lead Manufacturing Engineer based in our Rugby facility. With a strong background in driving process improvement, you will be responsible for setting up new production and test areas, as well as manufacturing support activities for our cutting-edge Naval drive products. This role will be key in developing processes and documentation, implementing Lean methodology and working with engineering to ensure that our products are designed to be manufactured as efficiently as possible.
Due to the security restrictions on this role, applications can only be accepted from UK Nationals with SC level security clearance, or the ability to obtain it.

Roles and Responsibilities

Act as process owner for Naval power electronics products, defining manufacturing processes and creating documentation to ensure we consistently maintain the highest possible build qualityPlan the layout and installation of new assembly and test areasEnsure that Lean methodology drives all of our manufacturing processesProactively engage in the entire product development process, ensuring that the engineering teams consider manufacturing during all design activitiesRepresent manufacturing in Design FMEAs and act as owner for Process FMEAsTake an active role in ensuring product and process safety, ensuring compliance with environmental, health, and safety standards Monitor and analyse production metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions to enhance productivity and product qualityManage the calibration and maintenance of testing equipment Manage product prototype/first series manufacturingManage design and manufacturing lessons learned.

Essential Requirements

Relevant engineering degree (or equivalent experience)Significant experience in manufacturing engineering and production support for low volume/batch manufacturing of complex electro-mechanical equipmentExperience of setting up manufacturing and test facilities for complex electro-mechanical equipmentExperienced in manufacturing process development and documentationExperience of implementing Lean methodology to optimise manufacturing processesExperience of product and process FMEAsAbility to read mechanical & electrical engineering drawingsStrong communication skillsAble to work autonomously and in teams, with strong organisational skillsUK National with SC security clearance, or the ability to obtain it

Experience with APQP processesExperience of working with 2D/3D CAD systemsPrior experience of using Siemens TeamCenter (PLM) for BoM managementPrevious experience of working within a regulated industry, e.g. NavalKnowledge of the manufacturing requirements for electrical drives & switchgearPrior experience of project managementAbility to multi-task on a variety of projects, adapt to changing circumstances and be able to deal with ambiguity making positive use of the opportunities it presents
