Job Description
As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will support the manufacturing floor by addressing process-related inquiries, leading training efforts for process understanding, and participating in or leading process improvements within production systems. You will assist with the development of department and organizational procedures, initiate and justify capital purchases and improvement projects based on capacity planning, capability analysis, and safety considerations. Additionally, you will create and maintain process documentation, training materials, and engineering tools, while implementing complex engineering changes.
ResponsibilitiesSupport the manufacturing floor for any process-related questions and lead training efforts for process understanding.Participate in or lead process improvements within production systems and assist with the development of department and organizational procedures.Initiate, justify, and implement capital purchases and improvement projects based on capacity planning, capability analysis, safety, and other factors.Create, maintain, and develop new process documentation, training materials, and engineering tools, and create new systems to support these efforts.Implement complex engineering changes and act as a change agent for these changes.Design, support, improve, and test moderate to high complexity test systems and equipment, ensuring designs meet testability and reliability criteria.Independently troubleshoot and analyze component/system problems.Participate in the creation and evaluation of new product test requirements and strategies, and provide estimates for new test equipment.Perform lead design engineer role on complex test systems, including small group leadership and system specification ownership.Train other members of the test team and production technicians on the theory and design of existing test equipment.Define, develop, test, and support moderate to high complexity software applications, and provide guidance to users on program functioning.Conduct and oversee unit testing, debugging, software/hardware integration.Essential SkillsBachelor's degree in a technical or scientific field.Greater than 4 years of professional manufacturing engineering experience or a combination of experience and an advanced degree.Demonstrated understanding of applicable machining processes, fixturing, and tooling required to manufacture a part.Proficiency in Computer Numeric Controls (CNC) strategies and programming.Solid understanding of CAD modeling, CAM processing, and simulation of CNC processes/programs.Ability to read and interpret engineering and process drawings and apply GD&T to manufacturing processes.Knowledge of inspection techniques and gauges, including Gauge R&R, SPC to monitor process variation.Additional Skills & QualificationsHands-on CNC experience and programming in a CNC environment is required.Experience with modeling CAD packages, including 3D modeling and its 2D equivalent.Experience with secondary manufacturing processes is beneficial but not required.Technical degree is a must-have for this role.Experience with work analysis, lean six sigma, program/verification, crash verification, root cause and corrective action using RCCA tools like fishbone diagrams.Process engineering and Six Sigma certification.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50000.00 - $120000.00/yr.
