Manual Machinist Days/Nights

Job Description

Join a dynamic service and repair company specializing in pumps and rotating equipment as a VTL/HBM Manual Machinist. You will work in the shop to recondition various types of pumps, including split case, overhung, horizontal, and multistage pumps, using blueprints and drawings.

Must Haves7+ years of experience as a Manual Machinist.Proficiency in vertical and/or horizontal machining and vertical mill (Bridgeport machine).Ability to read and interpret blueprints.Experience with pump parts, manual machining, and using tools such as micrometers and calipers.Familiarity with manual lathes, machine shops, boring mills, and vertical turret lathes.

ResponsibilitiesRecondition pumps from the field based on blueprints and drawings.Perform line bores on pumps, drilling, and machining of faces, square plates, base plates, and internal pump parts.Work with shafts, sleeves, rings, impellers, heads, and casings with part dimensions ranging from 4 inches to 7 feet.Machine components using carbon steel, stainless steel, and bronze materials.Create serrated finishes for flanges, dial pins, cut diameters on IDs, mount faces for bearing houses, and keyways.

Work Environment

Work in a medium-sized shop bustling with activity and business. The shop has air conditioning but is tight on space, with plans to move to a larger facility in 2024 or 2025. The day shift comprises 7 manual machinists, 10 pump mechanics, and 1 welder, working Monday to Saturday. Expect to work 50 to 60 hours per week, with paid breaks and unpaid lunch. The dress code includes steel-toed boots, jeans, a work shirt, and safety glasses. Night shift offers a 10% differential and similar working hours.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.
