Manual Machinist
**Description** Summary of Position: We are seeking a Manual Machinist to join our team at our facility in Ontario, CA. In this position, you will be responsible for setting up, running, machining processes, and troubleshooting all conventional machines including lathes, mills, grinders, etc. Candidates should have experience operating conventional lathes and milling and possess the ability to translates the engineering specifications into precision parts by determining how best to produce the required item and then manufacturing it accordingly. A level I & II technician will be starting out and learning the process, but a Level III is expected to understand the process, how to apply learned skills and possess the talent to machine parts with very little supervision to meet or exceed the quality requirements of the drawings/specifications. A level-IV technician will also possess leadership qualities, as well as the skills to train and mentor others. Pay is based on the level the candidate can demonstrate. Essential Functions of the Position: • Analyze and interpret blueprints, specifications, or sample parts to determine the dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces. Comply with Maury quality system • Maintains a clean and organized work area to 6S standards • Utilizes required tooling, fixtures, holding devices, and materials. Determines the correct and required inserts, tool holders, or installs pre-set tools in the machine • Check for machine readiness, check that maintenance is performed to ensure functionality and performance of equipment • Participation in continuous improvement in the area as well as other departments by identifying cause, problems, or need for correction with machining, manufacturing, inspection techniques • Ensure safety and quality considerations and requirements are proactively addressed and implemented in product production processes. • Ability to plan machine set-ups, position workpieces, and operate various conventional machines to produce specified quantities of piece parts to specified tolerances. Deburr parts as needed to meet 100% quality • Perform first-piece inspections (FAI’s) and make the necessary adjustments to the machine to ensure parts are manufactured to designated tolerances. • Adheres to all workplace safety guidelines, policies, and laws determined by the company, state, and federal authorities • Possess a strong attention to detail, report problems, discrepancies, and anomalies promptly • Ability to work independently, follow instructions, and concentrate for long periods • Able to use a drop indicator, calipers, and micrometer for measuring tolerances +/- 0.0002” • Ability to lapp parts to achieve dimension and flatness within +/- 0.00005” Required Skills: • Basic PC skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, MRP) • English language skills and the ability to read, follow, and interpret planning and work order instructions, including correctly completing all related documents, are highly valued in this role. • Must be available to work overtime when necessary to meet customer and production demands. • Must be able to work in a high-performance team setting to achieve common goals • Candidate must regularly lift and move physical inventory weighing up to 30 pounds. • The employee must be able to spend long periods standing. • Possess the ability to professionally communicate and work cooperatively with others, fostering a positive and productive work environment • As required, they must be able to pass any customer-required testing/machining specifications and/or standards for customer parts • Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks and a high volume of work on a deadline. • Intermediate math skills, including adding, subtracting, multiplication, division, and fractions, for print reading and tolerance determination • Other tasks, as directed by management **Skills** Manual, Lathe, mill, Troubleshooting, Grinding **Top Skills Details** Manual,Lathe,mill,Troubleshooting **Experience Level** Intermediate Level **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
