Responsibilities

The Yard Manager supervises and directs the work activities of all Yard personnel involved in the shipping, receiving and handling of product. This position provides leadership and direction in loading and unloading techniques, receiving procedures, yard organization, inventory handling and control, yard vehicle maintenance and the promotion of a safe working environment. A Yard Manager generally supervises a department of up to 15 Yard Loaders. The Yard Manager is involved with all plant personnel including hiring, employee development, terminations and disciplinary actions.  This position requires the flexibility to work 40+ hours per week and weekends as required. The Yard Manager reports directly to the Plant Manager.
 
Primary Job Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

 

Practice proper PPE compliance and maintain a safe working record and environmentFacilitation of departmental communication and meetingsImmediately communicate unsafe conditions, acts or injuries to Plant ManagerConducting cycle-countsPractice proper forklift and yard vehicle operation and preventive maintenanceManagement of product rotationMaintain yard housekeeping, organization and layoutAssurance of maximized payloadsMaintain and build job skills through company training programsEnsuring departmental policy complianceCommunication with Dispatcher regarding relative issuesManagement of departmental trainingOrganization of daily loading sequenceDepartment personnel administrationYard vehicle maintenance schedule complianceMaximization of departmental labor efficienciesMinimization of loading errorsCoordination of DOT stock lotsMinimization of departmental overtimeFinished Goods quality inspectionsManagement of product conversionsConfirmation of customer orders (ASN)Management of yard organization, layout and mapManagement of L/MH certification programsManagement of CPU’s and RMA’sUnderstand and practice ADS CORE VALUESPromote a positive and transparent work environmentEnsure proper management of operating supply purchases via the internal PO system or company credit card

Educational Requirements:

 

High School Diploma or equivalent
Vocational or Associates Degree preferred
 

Preferred Experience:

3-5 years experience as an ADS Yard LoaderSupervisory experience 

Physical Requirements:

 

Ability to repeatedly lift 75 pounds to a height of 6 feetAbility to stand and be mobile for a minimum of 8 continuous hoursAbility to perform physical labor for extended periods of time in temperature extremesAbility to use hands, arms and legs to physically handle and transport finished goodsPosition requires full range of body motion including twisting, bending, reaching, squatting and ability to mount/dismount industrial equipment and vehicles
