Manager - Tax

The Manager – Income Tax Compliance is responsible for federal, state, and international income and franchise tax compliance and defense

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manage professionals responsible for the preparation of federal and state income tax returnsReview complex federal and state income tax returns, positions, and supporting calculations, including LIFO and stock compensationEnsure tax returns and quarterly estimated tax payments are timely and accurately prepared and filedResearch and document federal, state, and international income tax positions, evaluate alternatives, and make recommendations to leadershipInsource and set up processes and systems to prepare partnership returns in-house that were previously prepared by third partiesEnsure compliance with tax regulations and rulings while maximizing value to the enterprise with tax planning strategies and analysisDetermine income tax treatment of potential acquisitions, dispositions and other transactionsManage federal and state income tax audits, including responding to Information Document Requests and assist in developing the Company’s position in response to proposed adjustmentsAssist with multiple tax planning projects, including the annual Research and Experimentation tax credit process, and related deliverables and support tax return filing positionsMonitor and model potential impacts of federal and state proposed income tax legislationAssess the potential for uncertain tax positions and document all relevant support in a clear and concise fashionIdentify and implement process changes to improve efficiencies across income tax areasEstablish strong relationships through effective communication with both internal personnel and external advisorsRecruit, retain, motivate, and develop a lean, efficient and effective team of highly skilled tax talent

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent degree; CPA, Master’s of Taxation, or JD a plus6 - 10 years of federal, state, and international tax planning and compliance experience with a large corporation, law firm, or Big 4 accounting firmStrong understanding of tax accounting rules under GAAPStrong analytical skillsEffective communication skillsAbility to work effectively remotelyTeam playerWillingness to learnExperience with tax research software (CCH Intelliconnect and/or RIA Checkpoint)Strong Excel skillsCorptax experience preferred
