At Northrop Grumman, you’ll find the resources, support, and team needed to excel in your career. **Position Overview:** Northrop Grumman Mission Systems, Networked Information Systems, Engineering and Sciences is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager for an onsite position in San Diego, CA. This role will lead the Functional Homeroom Hardware Engineering organization, reporting directly to the NIS E&S Discipline Director. This role will oversee a dynamic team of hardware engineers supporting NIS division programs. **Key Responsibilities:** + Provide people leadership for a hardware engineering organization of 175 team members, focusing on performance management and career development. + Manage talent development, workforce planning, and ensure adequate staffing levels while facilitating resource sharing across multiple business areas. + Support hiring goals through networking events, interviewing, and intern placements; leverage workforce management tools to optimize staffing effectiveness, including engaging remote sites. + Identify workforce skill requirements based on business needs and forecast for experienced hires and interns, executing a full life-cycle talent management strategy. + Drive engineering strategy, including investments and talent strategy, and lead strategic initiatives to enhance hardware engineering capabilities. + Focus on retention efforts, engagement initiatives, and diversity within the team while building teams with high engagement levels through mentoring and knowledge sharing. + Foster engineering rigor, build consensus, and resolve conflicts, collaborating with cross-discipline engineering teams throughout the division. + Collaborate with direct reports and peers to address issues promptly and meet program commitments. + Define and ensure compliance with engineering processes and best practices. + Oversee general administration for the NIS E&S Hardware organization, including budgets, staffing, workload forecasts, and performance evaluations. + Manage indirect spending to meet financial goals. + Implement initiatives for digital transformation to improve processes and performance. + Establish and maintain a culture of leadership that prioritizes ethics, integrity, and innovative practices while balancing programmatic needs to achieve results within cost, schedule, and quality parameters. + Manage team assignments across programs and maintain staffing projections. + Ensure quality of work products and independent technical reviews for division programs. **Basic Qualifications:** + Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or related fields, with 10 years of experience; Master's degree with 8 years of experience. + 10+ years of professional experience in defense or aerospace industries. + Experience managing multiple technical teams across various geographic sites. + Must have proven technical management experience preferably in either program IPT, R&D or Advanced Systems, technology, and/or functional environments. + Working knowledge of program execution, staffing, engineering metrics and training resources, processes, and tools. + Experienced in leading diverse technical teams across multiple locations. + Knowledgeable in hardware engineering processes and tailoring. + Experience leading large and diverse technical teams. + High proficiency in technical problem-solving, including root cause analysis and solution development. + Must have an active Secret clearance with ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret SCI. **Preferred Qualifications:** + Advanced degree in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, or related fields. + Previous IPT leadership experience. + Proven success in leading organizations with more than 50 employees. + Prior experience in engineering functional leadership. + Demonstrated technical experience across multiple program phases. + Active Top Secret SCI clearance. Primary Level Salary Range: $187,000.00 - $280,600.00 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
