The Manager, Store Design is responsible for delivering creative strategic initiatives through various store design projects by providing design support and direction that drives sales and elevates the Customer Experience.

Develop new store designs, manage concept and millwork development drawingsManage and work closely with external consultants, vendors, and suppliersReview and coordinate Architectural and MEP drawingsResponsible for design solutions that achieve merchandising goals set forth in design briefEnsure the completion of team deliverables and adhere to project budgetsOwn and advise on questions about a project's design, construction, and fixture details for prototypes for timely implementationSpace plan stores based on standard assortment grades and department productivityResponsible for the design and roll-out of fixturesManage light-scale construction projects, as requiredUnderstand, apply, and support the development and maintenance of Indigo's Store Design standardsAccountable for maintaining and updating database of the current fixture floorplans, fixture drawings, and photographs of all storesResearch and source materials for architectural design elements to meet construction, maintenance, operations, and procurement needsContinuous professional development to enhance position-relevant skills and knowledge of department protocol, code compliance, and quality control"Actively seek opportunities to improve internal processes to streamline design timeline and execution.Take on special projects assigned by senior team membersDevelop solutions that support the omni-channel, online / in-store integrated customer experienceEnsure the store experience is best-in-class, acting as an advocate for the customer and employee by placing them at the forefront of all design and decision-making processesPeople

QualificationsWork Experience / Education / Certifications
Minimum 5-7 years of professional experience in commercial interior design in retail, hospitality, or equivalentBachelor’s degree in architecture, Interior Design or Industrial Design or equivalent experience in professional practiceNCIDQ certification / OAA certification is an assetLEED & WELL accreditation, knowledge and project experience is an assetMember of ARIDO (association of Registered Interior Designer of Ontario), OAA (Ontario Association of Architects) or equivalent is an assetExperienced in the design and execution of commercial environmentsExperienced in working closely with architects and various consultants (design agencies, MEP engineers, structural engineers, lighting designers) in the execution of commercial projectsExperienced working with construction and in construction administrationKnowledge of and experienced in preparing and reviewing construction drawings and construction detailsKnowledge of and experienced with fabrication methods inherent in store fixture, architecture, and furniture productionKnowledge of and experienced with visual merchandising criteria, with experience in retail presentationRetail experience is an assetCompetencies / Skills / Attributes
